***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

It's an ace tank spec imo. Given the fact you can switch between heals and tanking Cleric is a very useful class to play as you can slot in to most groups. I tanked on my IT runs and healed through the DM runs.

Is anyone else slightly disappointed with the Warriors in Rift? I don't know if it's just me but it seems to be the only class I don't get along with. Aside from one tanking spec that gives you god knows how many passive buffs I don't think there's a lot to them. The Champion/Paragon options don't seem to give out as much dps (at low levels anyway) than I'd like. Then again, the more I level my cleric the more options I have and I'm a lot more effective now than I was say 10 levels ago (mid thirties atm). I know that sentence is true with most games, however with some mmos/rpgs I often find myself using the more powerful versions of basic skills as I level. Rift is pushing me in to a different routine and I like it.

Not sure, my warriors are still quite low levels, but I am really loving the Paladin and Champion lines, Void Knight looks like an interesting line too. My problem at the moment is that I am loving all of my characters and the way each of them plays, so kind of hopping from one to the other a lot :)

The only game I've ever played that was worse for alt-itis was D&D online. It's the main reason my highest toon is still only 29 :)

Personally I really enjoyed leveling up my Warrior using a Riftblade/Reaver/Warlord build. It gets better once you get the AoE and healing skills, I can take on small groups of equal level mobs and walk away on almost full health.

Most of my experience so far has been solo leveling up to 50, I've yet to do much in the instances as I'm still waiting for the rest of my guild to hit cap ;)

Maybe now's the time to roll an alt ;)

Im currently a warlord/paladin/beastmaster and did finish the reaver and riftbalde quests so i can change later. At what level did you run the riftblade/reaver/warlord spec. Can you give some more info regarding the build?

Are people really nearly at level cap after a weekend lol this game will fail if people reach the cap in a week.

I find it worrying that this seems to be the case.

The levelling seems too easy to me, but I'm comparing it to EQ 2. It seems quicker then WoW actually(if you can imagine the first time you played WoW).

Not only this, but it seems players on the servers you guys play on seem to be levelling athletes, and I think that has a whiff of Wow players about it. I've alway associated these types of people with the players you raid with who have very little patience and can ruin the whole raid experience for me.

Never seen the point in power levelling(unless you're selling char/gear/coin for real cash), especially if you've just got the game. I mean level 1-10 can be just as enjoyable as 40-50.

Luckily, it seems a lot of the players on my server seem to be easy going, well most of the guys in my guild are for a fact.

Note: Not all ex-WoW power levelling athletes are dodgy obviously, some of the folks i've met so far who can be classed as power levellers and were WoW addicts are actually really nice people.

Well, I managed to hit lvl 50 within about 3 weeks of play ... and I didn't play the game intensively. And, I have two alts in their mid 20's. I have to admit, I found the experience of levelling up my main character quite fun, but from around lvl 40 onwards the game became quite stale. Rifts no longer held the same fascination, quests were dull and warfont PvP became increasingly more frustrating due to poor class balance, pre-made groups pitted against pick-up groups etc.

Now, at lvl 50 it's just a gear grind - either in warfronts for PvP gear or running instanced dungeons ad nauseam for PvE gear. Sorry, but been there done that in a multitude of past MMOs. I want something new for end game, and I was really hoping that Rift would provide this with dynamic content and an RvR/open world PvP playstyle.

It doesn't, so I've taken the decision to cancel my sub. To all those that are still playing, enjoy the game and I hope you find it more worthwhile in the longterm than I :)

Worst leave your server and come to mine plea evar ! :D

j/k

I recall before launch they said something like it was possible to reach cap in 100 hours, so roughly 4 days /played. Not sure what WoW is these days to reach cap but I'm told it can be quicker than that.

As I say though, all depends on the player, I am over 50 hours played on rift according to my steam stats now and my highest is level 21. Its the nature of the mainstream MMO these days for levelling to be quick, especially as so many players have now mastered the art of levelling very fast in MMOs.

Its almost an impossible situation for devs these days, make levelling slower than the game they came from and people whine that its too grindy and takes too long, make levelling faster than the game they came from and people whine its too fast. IMO, its as fast, or as slow, as you want it to be, all depends how a person plays.

I estimate it will be 2 months (from when I started) before I reach cap. Course being on a pvp server tends to slow the levelling speed for average Joe a touch :D

I am enjoying immensely and have played almost 50 hours now and my highest is my Rogue at level 24. I have a total of 5 characters all ranging from Level 11 to 24. I spent the first few hours though playing up to level 10 with different classes to see which I enjoyed most before pushing on further with the one I then considered as my main account.

I play on the Shivermere server with the OCUK guild and the only annoying thing about levelling slower than most is that I haven't really been able to join in with the guild as yet.

You're correct Tombstone, it does depend on the person.

I just like looking around, I spned most of the time just riding around and talking to guildies. I find this is actually an important part of mmo gaming, immersing yourself in the game and forgetting about real life, while relaxing.

I know you can forget about real life while power levelling, but I also think you miss out on a lot of other aspects of the gaming experience.

I guess times have changed, and the newer members of the mmo league enjoy doing whatever they do in the game, as long as it doesn't make my experience crap, then obviously I don't care, if it does I leave.

So far though I've had no problems, and really think I've been lucky with my guild selection.

People levelling that fast must be just flying through the content though, just hoovering up the quests and dashing from hub to hub.

I just don't understand that when there's so much detail in the world to explore.

Not really, it is in fact very easy to leave fast in Rift particularly if you do a lot of warfronts & instances. Rested XP also hastens your path to max level significantly. I would say the slowest method to levelling in Rift, by far, is just purely doing the PvE content in open world ie. hub quests.

Must admit I've avoided rested xp on my characters :)

I started to get bored, only because I have no one to play with though, damn slow levellers! :p Been 50 for over a week on my Paragon and have just today rolled a Rogue, finding it a lot more enjoyable thus far (1-20) than I did my Warrior so hopefully that + playing with others will get me back into it :)

Yeah haven't played much since I dinged 50, done a couple of experts with the guild and ran around Shimmersand & Stillmoor for a couple of hours doing rifts/pvp. Was fun :D

Just waiting on patch 1.1 to see how much warriors are going to be 'fixed' :p shame really, I love the pace of combat at the moment, anything less and it just feels slow.

Got a rogue for solo leveling and creating a mage for group leveling with Markeh. So I'll have a 75% chance of being able to play the 'flavour of the month' class if I can be bothered to get them to 50 :p

How do u do rested xp?

anyways patch seems to be out. i downloaded it and installed it this morning on my laptop. doesnt seem like a big download as it only took a few minutes to complete via wifi in the hotel room im staying.

i notice there is now a new authentication step that you can enable now. As well as proving email and password, you can also provide a random code thats generated using an android app called Rift Authenticator.

cant wait for this world invasion.

You get rested xp if you log out in the city, I dont log out in the city as I am always elsewhere when I finish my sessions so I never get rested xp :)

Grabbing the Rift Authenticator now.
