Anyone recommend an aftermarket air cooler for £30 or less?
**For an AM4 bracket please go to the manufacturer support page and email them proof of purchase of the cooler and proof of purchase for the Ryzen CPU. We will try our best to get some brackets but you should contact the manufacturer first. **
So I installed a 1600 on the weekend into an MSI X370 Carbon and I downloaded the AMD chipset drivers from the AMD site. However -
Can anyone tell me if both those things are normal?
- The software installer seemed more interested in installing video drivers also
- I can't see the Ryzen power plan in the control panel. It just has the standard defaults
OK thanks - yeah I'm pretty sure that's what I did, but I'll have to recheck tonight. Once the chipset drivers are installed, the special power plan should then show - is that correct?

Yep.
So, I managed to get my G.Skill Trident Z 3000 C14 32GB (2x16GB) running at 3200Mhz !!!! It was a nice big jump in performance too, definitely noticeable!
Timings 18-14-14-14-34
ProcODT = 96ohms

DRAM Volts 1.40 Extreme LLC
BIOS 1201 ASUS Crosshair 6 Hero.
Go for the beta bios 9945, there is a high chance of getting better CL, maybe even 3333 divider.
AMD recommended 40-60 ohm for that and an absolute max of 80 (the MSI video) just for info.
It makes a difference for sure - got into windows at 3466 by upping to 60 ohm![]()
