*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

I can do x36 multi for 3.6ghz but when I try 37 or 38 I end up with 1.5ghz ish. Any ideas what's going on? Thought it might be stuck in an idle state but doesn't ramp up once prime is going?

Is this a sign of instability or something else?

Gigabyte gaming 5. I'm just setting the multiplier to the number. 36 seems to work but 37 and 38 don't.

Is this where I learn it's supposed to be in hex or something :)

So I installed a 1600 on the weekend into an MSI X370 Carbon and I downloaded the AMD chipset drivers from the AMD site. However -
  1. The software installer seemed more interested in installing video drivers also
  2. I can't see the Ryzen power plan in the control panel. It just has the standard defaults
Can anyone tell me if both those things are normal?

Did you definitely download the right package? I agree the installer is confusing, I've relayed this feedback.

Here's what you should see and click to install, 17.10.

17.4.4 is the latest whql GPU driver, ignore that.

OK thanks - yeah I'm pretty sure that's what I did, but I'll have to recheck tonight. Once the chipset drivers are installed, the special power plan should then show - is that correct?

I believe you have to reboot for it to show.
Or just set high performance mode.

I had this too, the latest chipset drivers on the gigabyte site were older than AMDs own. It appeared once I installed from the AMD site.

Anyone know why my 37 and 38 multipliers seem to give me 1.5ghz under load (confirmed by the 48c max!) whereas 36 works fine. I can't figure it out. So annoying!

So, I managed to get my G.Skill Trident Z 3000 C14 32GB (2x16GB) running at 3200Mhz !!!! It was a nice big jump in performance too, definitely noticeable!

Timings 18-14-14-14-34
ProcODT = 96ohms
SoC = 1.150
DRAM Volts 1.40 Extreme LLC

BIOS 1201 ASUS Crosshair 6 Hero.

Go for the beta bios 9945, there is a high chance of getting better CL, maybe even 3333 divider.

AMD recommended 40-60 ohm for that and an absolute max of 80 (the MSI video) just for info.

It makes a difference for sure - got into windows at 3466 by upping to 60 ohm :)

Hi Thanks,I spent so long fiddling in 1201 getting that setup. I am taking a break and just enjoying my PC for the next week or two! :)

I will check out 9945 at some point though :)

hmm interesting, my testing showed me that 60 or 68.6 ohms was not stable even at just 2933. I'v had to use 80 ohms for stability, and 96ohms has led me to 3200!
