*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

Ah that is very interesting because i have exactly that problem! One stick is off and the other stuck in rainbow. I gave up on it in the end but wonder if that's part of the issue. Have you seen the massive thread on it over at the g skill forums? It looks like different software accessing the bus as the same time is causing huge issues.

What's the easiest way to validate whether you have some suspect SPD profiles?

Yes, that's it. :(

Check out this link. I paid for the software, £15. It did fix my second set of sticks, i think my first were beyond saving.

I always knew this RGB fad was stupid :P

Hope you get is sorted! Also, there's a new version of Aura released just the other day.

Download thyphoon burner and check the CRC status.

There is a lenghty thread over at oc.net about this. The advice it to RMA the memory and dont use any kind of colour changing program until they fix it.

My first kit of 4266mhz got corrupted by using gskills own tool lol.

A new round of BETA bios updates came out for MSI boards today. I upgraded my B350 Tomahawk Arctic earlier and now it boots with the ram at 3466 16,16,16,36! I still cant run my g.skill ram at 3600 on this bios but its better than the 3333 I was running on the previous BETA bios. This is just choosing the option from the drop down menu in bios. Cinebench gives me 159 points single and 1722 multi running the 1700 (non X) CPU at 3.9. Not to shabby for a budget board :)

It just passed 10 passes of IBT at maximum. 173Grops each pass.

Yeah i tried that cheers. I think the Aura chip on my board is damaged, as no matter which version i use it crashes on startup, even with a clean OS install. My GSkill RGB software did the same.

Ah well. :p

Nice. Is that your first BIOS running 1.0.0.6 or was the old one running that too? If the latter looks like vendor specific tweaks which could be positive. Might try the new gigabyte BIOS this weekend, I'm stuck at 3333 on my g skill 3600 :)

Get running HCI Memtest and prime. I can boot 3600 cl14 but requires cl16 and slack seconds to be properly stable to the point 3333/3466 is better.
Once you get to this point with Ryzen and the moment, it's better to concentrate on latency, that's it's weakness.

Took a few pics of my Ryzen build :)

Need to fix that GPU sag :(

So AMDMatt will you be swapping over to Threadripper when that lands ?

Personally will stay with my 1800X @ 4GHz and just drop in the next AM4 Zen/Zen+ chip that comes out in 2018, Unless the top end 16c Threadripper really does offer big gains in the gaming department over the 1800X.

I can't see it, IPC will be the same and 16 threads will be more than enough for games.

I can't either but I'm hoping x370 is good for the next iteration of CPUs. Particularly if they squeeze some more IPC and GHZ :)

It is tempting tbh, but i will probably save my limited upgrade budget for a couple of Vegas. :)

Probably not one for this thread but on my new build windows seems to insist on spinning up my hard drives just prior to shutting down. Any obvious culprits? I don't have any programmes on them at all, just data. Really annoying!
