*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

For point of interest, why do you need to stick with Win 7?

Maybe just my 2p, but people slam down on 10 more than is really justified. Trim out Cortana and turn off all the telemetry stuff and it's perfectly usable.
Auto updates are not user selectable, for laptops that go between work and home its awful!
Desktop its still a lesser issue and data collection on a pc is inexcusable too, though I live with it.
I feel MS are pushing towards a self imposed slow death spiral, maybe I'm wrong?

The last parts from OCUK were delivered today so I'm going to put my new Ryzen build together this weekend.

I can't wait.

Wow. That’s a lot of haribo! I only got one packet when my Ryzen stuff arrived :p

Hope you have fun with the case. I built in one a couple of weeks ago and really liked it.

@nashathedog Hope you get 3200 with the RAM, took me some tinkering with subtimings to get it running without errors on an X370 Prime.

Yeah I got the 3200mhz DDR4, Unfortunately I can't get it up and running at the moment, I knew my graphic's card was too big but I thought I'd be able to use it with the door off but the cards pcb and a metal strut are in the way. :( I've got it built though so I'll stay on my old PC for now until I have the money for a new card.

New toys and Haribos.

The Haribo's are on me. :)

Wait, so Team pulled a bait and switch with the Dark Pro? They're using Hynix ICs now?

This is the Dark Pro 3200 16-16-16-36 kit I got in April:

There isn't any bait and switch. Hynix memory can run at 3200CL16 just fine. They didn't promise anyone anything about what ICs will be used.

Only the very first batch was B Die (well the one after Ryzen was released). After it went out of stock soon after Ryzen launched it was restocked but was Hynix.

Ah true, I'm overreacting there. I recall Corsair used to switch ICs a lot on their kits too, guess it's common.
OCUK should probably scrub some of the reviews mentioning B-die on the Dark Pro though, one of those reviews was the reason why I jumped on the kit.

It is worth noting that the non 8pack stuff is now not Samsung B Die. Using B die for a CL16 kit was a waste by Teamgroup and well once demand for B Die stuff went through the roof they switched to cheaper stuff.

This may explain why my mate with the same ram as mine cant get 3200

It will only boot at 2800

I feel bad now as i recommended it too him as mine is B-Die

I can also confirm that the RAM is not Samsung and for me does not go above 2800MHz.

I also bought the RAM based on the review, so I second the idea of scrubbing the reviews.

It should be made clear that they are now not B-Die

Not impressed to be honest and feel bad I recommended them.

My mate is still in the return window so will get him to run typhoon to confirm.

I just presumed when I built his PC that the latest Taichi bios was the problem...

Oh right, any difference between where the chips are made in?
I see most of the new ones are made in China, but mine's an earlier sample, made in Malaysia:

Latest round of gigabyte BIOS updates looking positive.

Just passed 500% on memtest at 3.9ghz with 3466 memory at a tight c14 (14-14-14-28-44 tRFC at 275). Occasional F9 but much improved from before.

Also boots faster.

@humbug cold boots are real :)
@Ste yeah mate I suffer from those too, increasing the boot retry count to 4 helps me boot on the 3rd attempt, depending how cold my room is. Warm reboots are not an issue. This only happens at 3466, 3200 is fine.

I need to try going past 3200 on the RAM, I'm curious how far I can push these Dark Pro sticks.
So far I'm only at the XMP timings, 16-16-16-36-52 RRDL/S-12 tFAW-48 1T and no GearDown.
