** Official ** Season 2010/2011 Pre-Season thread

We're also playing against a team far more interested in the result than us, and who are in the middle of their own season, so full fitness etc.

But yes, this games been crap.

Oh are they? I wasn't sure how the US league worked, they do look a lot fitter.

Was that a shot by Welbeck? He hit it hard, high and miles ahead of both Utd players, they just said he'd been good but other than a cross for Macheda, he's been crap. (EDIT:- a little after that cross for Macheda I'm talking about, ran it up the wing, loads of time, had plenty of time to cross/pass, took it right to the line and blasted it across).

Who is the Cleverly kid, he looks half decent, I mean he just does the basics well from what I've seen, moving and simple one two's, the simplist and oldest attacking move in football is so effective, almost every good move with him has been a simple one two to get him into space, not bad delivery.

Only been watching on and off, isn't Giggs just getting the ball in midfield and constantly dinking it straight down the middle, either over the midfield or over midfield and defence. Still not remotely impressed by Fabio/Rafael.

Methinks next season the push to play MLS teams preseason might not be so big, if Spurs/Utd/City lose half their games or more it doesn't look great.

It's not about winning or losing, it's about testing yourself against teams that are going to put their all into it and really push your team. It's a far better gauge than simply going out and beating nobby nobody 6-0 at walking pace.

It's about re-gaining fitness really, no doubt once the world cup players are back, you'll just win without much trouble.

I agree with that, beating Barnet is getting more and more pointless as they get worse and worse. But in terms of traveling, and I'm sure america, especially where a lot of these games have been, isn't the best climates/conditions to be playing in, though probably fantastic facilities.

That hasn't stopped them going to Asia in the summer before though, its more about cash than who you play really, selling shirts, getting fans, big crowds and who will give you a huge cut to have you there. Crowd in that game is over 3 times the normal league average attendance in the states, so this must make them a killing aswell.

But one thing comes from beating slightly worse teams, you get a chance to practice certain types of play, when people who are fitter are breaking up your play its hard to get back in the swing of things.

I really think we need to send out Macheda on loan, he's not progressing at the moment.

I'm still not sure on the hype with him myself, but yeah a loan would do him good, although it'd do Diouf, Welbeck and Macheda good...can't really loan out all three though.

**** game, boring too.
