** Official ** Season 2010/2011 Pre-Season thread

I'm liking Chamakh up front, looks like he'll give us a big boost in attack this season. Frimpong looks fantastic, it's good that Denilson and Song will start having to compete for their places as he looks like a fine replacement should one of them get injured (or when song goes off to the ACN).

It's extremely hard to predict arsenal games but I'm guessing that we'll either draw or win against Liverpool, depending on the form of both teams. Our defence still looks a bit shaky and I don't even need to mention the problems we have between the sticks but this season looks like a good one.

I know its only pre-season, but Walcott and Arshavin were really poor last night.

In comparison to Nasri and Wilshere there was no effort and apart from the goal from Walcott little good play. Arshavin actually looked like he couldn't be bothered which has been par for the course so far in pre-season. He appears to be in a similar frame of mind to last season and needs a kick up the backside.

Nasri is looking sharp and its good to see Wilshere having a go. His tackling is just horrific though and he needs to be told to stay on his feet.

Some of the players on the fringes just don't look good enough. Nordtveit for example looked all over the place and JET while scoring, looks technically quite poor.

no its just them two are absolute mercenary's of the highest order. They deserve what they get and hopefully both will bugger off in this window

In Pulis we trust

Previous arguments with Fuller and Tuncay seem to backup the fact that Pullis cannot manage strikers.

Nordveit and Frimpong look decent, considering how old they are. Our fringe players are quite good compared to other teams, and they're only going to get better.

Arshavin is just naturally lazy and Walcott is just.... Nasri's pre-season form has really impressed me so far.

Cesc_______Nasri
_____Song______

I would like to see us field that midfield or at least test it out in the Emirates cup.

Got to say I'm concerned about Arshavin, his attitude still looks really poor and he's not performing at all on the pitch. Not to mention he's fat. Not looking good, at all.

idk I don't think you'd get away with playing that midfield in the premiership, Nasri and Fabregas would both be wanting to get forward too much to give the midfield any balance, especially seeing as the wingers don't do as much tracking back since the recent switch to the 4-5-1/4-3-3 system.

I still think Wenger will go with Diaby for his height and strength. Someone like Yaya Touré would have been better, but given our problems elsewhere in CB & GK, I don't see him splurging any cash on a midfielder anytime soon.

Arshavin did look a bit unhappy last season, it'll be a shame if he can't get it together this season because he's so gifted. I get the impression he's a bit of a loner, and isn't really part of the squad socially, just from the goal celebrations. He admitted on Corden's World Cup Live thingy that he didn't even have RVP or Cesc's mobile numbers lol

I would prefer us playing 4-2-3-1 but a quality DM is needed to partner song, Diaby and Denilson aren't very reliable and Frimpong isn't 100% ready.

He is indeed real! Been at the club a few years now, but been on loan a few times, a couple successful, and one very unsuccessful.

He's played well in pre-season so far.

He looks amazing technically but there's something about him I'm not sure about. He doesn't look very intense and quite lazy on the ball occasionally. I hope that's just because it's pre-season friendlies. He can't afford to get caught on the ball in real games

IDK, I think when he plays at his preferred CB he is actually quite solid. I saw him make two accurate long balls from that position and a few good tackles. He's only 20 and I've read somewhere that Wenger is looking to promote him to the first team. I'm confident that with a few Cup games under his belt he'll be a good addition to the first team.

Ended up 5-2

Kiko Macheida - 2
Darron Gibson
Tom Cleverley
Javier Hernandez

Not seen the match but a lot of reports suggesting it was a pretty competent performance all around with Utd the much better team
