For sure, still looks much better! At least its moving in the right direction after so long

Im waiting for the 2022 model which is rumored to remove the notch completely.

Now hear me out, I know it might be too soon. But the 12 for me was a bit disappointing as they missed out on some key features.
Here's what I'd like to see added on the next model:

13 Pro/Max:

1) 120hz
2) Smaller Notch/No Notch
3) USB-C (though its probably wishful thinking at this point)

So you get 2 out of the 3 things you wanted yet are still waiting? lol

I've got an iPhone 8 which I bought new two years ago when they dropped the price on the launch of a newer one, so will be interested to see what comes out (won't be watching the event, I find it too cringe-worthy so will just read the summary tomorrow). Most likely grab a 12 or something when the price comes down, I don't tend to buy the very latest. It will be strange moving away from TouchID, I'm a bit old school and like the physical button, but guess its time to move on. Mainly looking for improved camera and battery life, those are a given going to anything newer of course :)

They're a lot better without the audience, production values are a lot higher and you don't have the incessant, vomit inducing sycophants :D
The Apple video events are still 90% fluff and the buzzwords get more annoying by the year. Craig Federighi could slot into a car salesman role easily enough :D

Sorry to semi hijack the thread - is the announcement or release of a new Apple Watch likely to have a positive impact on the price of the last couple of gens? I don’t buy the latest and greatest anymore so am usually a gen or 2 behind. Fancy getting a watch 5 but if the price of the 6 is likely to drop with the 7 arriving I might hold off. Anyone shed any light - I know it’s guess work to a certain extent but what normally happens historically to the Apple Watch prices with a new release?

Thats true, is it canned clapping and whooping now though?

Bit late to the reduced notch size party, and still fairly big

Reminds me of the Pixel 3XL except not as nuts. Disappointed at a repeat of the shiny casing though the 12 pro/max are inferior to the 12 build quality wise IMHO.

Depends what they do with the Series 3 and the SE I guess.
They might change it to the 4 and the SE, maybe there's an SE2, we'll find out in a few hours.

I have a 12 pro currently, so its not worth the upgrade for me right now - 120hz is great, but future iterations will only make it better/more efficient. And the rumours for next years phone is that the notch is going completely. Im not one to upgrade my phone that often, the only reason I got the 12 last year was that my 7 was on its last legs and i couldnt go another year with it so i had to bite the bullet and get a phone that didnt tick all my boxes

Never really understood the hate for the notch. I don’t see what the fuss is about.
I've said it many times, I don't even see the notch. The people who complain about it the most are the ones who don't have an iPhone.

I have it and I hate it. You get used to it when you use it everyday, but there are just so many apps that just dont take advantage of the space next to the notch and basically just move everything beneath it which is dumb. Also if you use a phone without a notch for a bit and then go back to it, it feels much worse as well

Thats what I thought. Don’t all the competition have a notch or hole punch or something that takes up a few pixels or space in general for a front camera etc? Apple’s notch looks to be a clean design to me.

If it took 4(?) years to make the notch smaller it seems a bit of a leap to think it'll only take one further iteration/year to then get rid of it completely. They don't tend to make big changes on the reg.

They were most likely already working on getting rid of it completely, but couldnt finalize it and perfect it before this years model. Similar to how 120hz was supposed to come out next year, but they couldnt manage to do it in time so it got delayed a year
