******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I went through my PayPal history tonight to see just how much I've spent on the game so far (I've done a bit of buying and selling on the grey market, so it was difficult to be sure)

Turns out I'm currently $159.17/£103.12 in, which was more than I thought to be honest... (its difficult to be 100% sure with exchange rates, but that's today's exchange rates)

On the plus side, I could probably sell 2 of my Omega packages for $50 each and sell a bit of melt and start with a freelancer package for $40, so that's cool :P

I guess pretty soon is going to be the time to remember its real money, and wonder how much I actually want to bring through...

$380 in here and I could easily sell my Phoenix LTI package which comes with some physical goodies for around $600.

I might upgrade the freelancer to a max, upgrade one of the omegas to a 315p (which means bringing in $10 more melt) and flog the other omega.

That would see me £78 in, which I think is about the amount that feels right to me (two AAA games at £40 each)

Or, alternatively, hang tight for a year and see if package prices go through the roof once sq42 is sold as a separate game...

Filmed a studio update for Around The Verse today, goes out next week.

oh god! the video camera finally caught up with me. Thought I could hide in my home studio and not have to be on screen...

haha, nobody is safe :D

So which part of the process are you guys involved in? It was the software which takes the 50 or so facial expressions at different angles, then does all the animation manipulation, wasnt it?
The other aspect, the performance capture, thats all done by imaginarium? Was there any other companies involved, or just the 2?

I'm dressed as a dolphin in the video :D

To answer PaulC2K:

I was part of the face scanning team down in Ealing all Summer. (unexpected as I was brought in just for animation)

I'm technically "Lead Animator" but working via my company FULLface Animation LTD.

I'm looking after all the rig face rig deliveries and then all the facial animation coming in from Cubic Motion. We're working really hard on getting the pipeline in place to get all the face anims into game seamlessly, lots to keep track of.

Yep all performance capture (body/face) was shot at The Imaginarium. There's a massive amount of work that is done in house on this delivered work. It's not just Imagarium/Cubic Motion deliver and it's straight in-game. Even though it's the actors motion from the shoot, it'll usually not read well and will need adjusting to ramp up certain emotions etc.

Next up is face animation for the persistent universe. That'll be my face motion mapped on to the various heads in-game. I start filming myself with the head cam tomorrow

Luke Sky.....er, Mark Hamill showing me where the camera is :D

Such an ego! Everyone else just appears once, but not you, nooo you to have your big head on telly while on camera too!!

:D

You seemed somewhat uncomfortable, but tbh half of the spectrum clips especially the Frankfurt ones, you'll have the regular person there chatting about whats going on, and the other person just gets the 'yeah, thats right' sort of response. Its not like you can really report on what F42 are doing, but then the setup you're getting from the F42 guy needs to allow you to offer more than 'yup'.

There was a 10FTC a good while back where Ben joined Chris, was like 40min long and Ben basically sat there and nodded his head through the whole thing.

Well, at least you've got your Star Citizen debut out the way, and you've got official proof of your involvement too :D
