******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Thanks for the offer, i'd never subscribed before, but because of CitCon and the tradition of queue jumping given to subs and concierge i figured it'd be worth the $10, and of course the next day they announce there isnt any need for it. Typical.
That said, i cant justify to myself spending £8-10 for the 2 little models, im having a hard enough time trying not to spend more money as it is, and if i was, it'd be on the flyable ships rather than ickle models. Would just be nice if they were available for UEC, seeing as they're hangar flair which seems appropriate to sell in the Voyager Direct store (even if they still need a subscriber package to be able to buy them).

Yeah I know what you mean, I get them free with my Imperator subscription but doubt I would spend real money to get them.

Saying that I've just had a look in my inventory and I actually still have a Takuetsu Mini Starfarer Model that I've not given away yet so drop us a trust with your RSI email and I'll send it over free for ya mate.

There was never a need to subscribe. It pays for the videos they do like around the verse and 10 for the chairman and stuff. If you like those videos, go for it, if you dont watch any of them, then you are probably better off putting that money into other star citizen things, as then the money will go into the game rather than the shows.

There are plenty of people who will re-sell the flair at cost price (maybe even a little less due to euro / usd exchange rate) on reddit if you just want a few little bits but dont want to subscribe.

I think you misunderstood. At this moment in time, im already a subscriber, i subscribed on the 4th because traditionally all subscribers & concierge gained access to the events 1h earlier. I wanted to make sure i got a decent seat, so subscribed for it, and then the next day i found out they werent doing it.
I knew the tickets were being made available to print the next day and wasnt sure whether they'd be dynamic if my details changed (non-sub to sub) and didnt want to risk not being categorised in the early entry group, so i did it the day beforehand, which was also when they announced there wouldnt be 2 groups, cos the smaller numbers didnt warrant it.

So im a paid up subscriber, who's not really bothered about the perks (i get a 2nd CitCon trophy and a 350R model im not fussed about). I contemplated asking for a refund, but A) its petty, B) wasnt sure if there might still be a benefit at CitCon anyway, and C) too late now.

Just sent you a trust message. Im :eek::eek:

Thank you

Added it, Thanks.

I got really excited during yesterdays Around the Verse when Erin spoke about the Starfarer, theres plenty of beautiful ships in Star Citizen, and im not sure many people would put the Starfarer in that list, but she's beautiful in my eyes :D
Similar deal with the Reclaimer (which i'll sadly be CCU'ing to the Carrack when possible), its not that i dislike the 90% of ships which probably fit most peoples futuristic 'sci-fi' vision, but that chunky unstylish metal lump seems to hit the sweet spot for me. Its the same with Killzone vs Halo, it was too clean and sterile, while Killzone felt right, war-torn and industrial.

Guys are you now playing this or something? I backed this but haven't really downloaded anything of late, anything worth trying out now?

Currently there is a tutorial, dog-fighting, racing, free flight and a social level to walk around with other backers.

Some big updates coming soon though with a mini universe to explore and FPS combat. All still alpha so will likely be bugs so up to you if you would rather wait a bit longer.

oh... OH. Get away? Really?

Damn why dont they send this out via email? I backed this thing 2 years ago and just get one poxy email a week with just some jibberish.

Where do I start to have a go on this folks? Any URLs would be grateful!

Just login in on the website and go here to download the launcher mate

You can also earn REC (rental equipment credits) by playing ranked matches to rent ships and equipment so you don't need to pledge to use the other ships anymore

Cheers bud. Great to know this, thanks.

Didnt know about these RECs, are there something called IEC or something?

So these REC, you simply play in ranked matches, get the credits and can RENT ships? (instead of buying them?)

Will this be the future game mechanic?

So you dont own ships anymore?

UEC is the normal in game money so anything bought with this stays on your account, you probably got allocated some after the recent millionth backer reward.

REC gets automatically allocated at the end of any ranked match. You can spend it here, its just for testing the alpha modules really. Each rental lasts a week and you only lose a day if you played the game that day.

You can still pledge for ships if you like and will always have access to those but its not as big a deal now you can just rent them instead.

The ship you've pledged for is still yours, plus any other ships you buy. REC is purely for rental. Last time I checked, you get 7x 24 hour slots when you rent something, handy because if you only play 1 day a week, your rental will last you 7 weeks rather than being used up in a single week.

I'm not sure if the REC system will continue after the game is released, I think it was brought in originally as we were expected to test ships and weapons, but weren't happy to pay real money for them in case they were rubbish. In the persistent universe you're not going to have dogfights and win points/REC like you can now in arena commander. However you will be able to earn other credits either through missions, helping others or stealing from them to buy ships/weapons.

Yeah, i completely forgot to come on here and check. Its stupid really, because up until about noon on Saturday there wasnt anything semi-concrete organised with the guys on Bit-Tech, which is where i also hang out for SC chit-chat. I dont know why, but it never occurred to me to come here, i seem to pop in once a month or something, if theres something thats happened i'll come see what ppl say, and somehow despite being a little down the night before that i'd be going there alone, i hadnt thought to check here. Stupid really, cos i'd always planned on doing so.

Might seem daft, but the problems which concern a lot of people, actually tend to comfort me somewhat. It just reassures me that what im seeing is what they've got, its real, rough edges and all. I dont care too much if it BSOD's (unless its doing it repeatedly beforehand) beyond the embarrassment CR would suffer, its not a final build and theres a LOT more to do. Its refreshing to see a development team be that open about progress.

I absolutely hate having my photo taken, but its with the great man himself, so...
Thats me, teamtd11 and Cei (both from Bit-Tech/Bit-Sec) and obviously Chris on the end.
I dont know why im clinging onto my coat like its my blankie, i was caught off guard because Cei passed his phone to someone, and i was expecting to use td11's camera, and was more concerned that the guy got all of us in, not just Cei & Chris, and didnt stop to think what an idiot im about to look when posting it online etc

Ahh Paul you don't look so bad. Doing the org proud ;)

Correct, when the PU goes to Beta they'll get rid of REC and we'll be earning UEC... the plan is that when it goes Beta they won't do any more wipes, so what you earn in Beta will be carried forward in to the final release... unless something goes horribly wrong or they discover someone has found a massive exploit

REC is used to rent stuff in Alpha, UEC is used to buy stuff in the Persistent Universe
