******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

HA! so that explains a lot! now my good man, can you do me one last favor and locate the shield unit on the ship, i cant find it anywhere :D

Opinions. After doing some thinking about controls, im seriously considering a dual joystick rig, i flew quadcopters not so long ago, i was infact pretty good flying them through video goggles. video of me to demonstrate.

My thinking is that it would feel much more natural to me having learnt this skill quite well already. Any opinions on how this would translate, im thinking wrightly or wrongly that this is the closest to 6dof in atmosphere any way.

Sweet mate, yeah pretty much it tbh! Heck probably easier as you dont' get cross winds in space lol

I'll have a look for the shield.. never really played at replacing them tbh!

Im thinking of a twin stick set up and pedals for throttle. Maybe some control panel for non combat controls. price shouldnt be too dissimilier to a hotas on the cheaper sticks but a left stick leaves pretty much the ch flightstick which is ambi and lacks buttons or the TM 16000m which would look like such a mismatch to the fighterstick i want i might as well get 2 TM16k.

as for the shield, it was just so i know where the damn thig is as nothing highlights on the ship.

Twin T16000ms seems quite popular just not, should work fine tbh, I tried it and couldn't get use to it - but I'd been using a ch pro throttle for that long that it didn't really matter as it's got an analog thumb stick on it for thrusters.

I stopped using my pedals recently and haven't really noticed any problems, less immersion but at least my daughter (bedroom below) can get to sleep at night now lol

wow that much of a clatter from the pedals? I would want pedals, i don't think i would like the throttle on a stick axis. My grilfriend sleeps under the loft room im making for my computer :O

They aren't silent, but yeah it'll carry during the night. Padding would help a lot though - I had to repair them and then just though.. sod it I'll use the twist, haven't really had any issues despite using those pedals for a couple of years.

Might go back to them eventually..

Its been given the greenlight by the QA testers, so its going to patch testing....its open to everyone, as everyone is on the PTU.....is only a 2.1 patch rather than 2.2 PTU which would be back to invitees only.

Zyloh - 2016-01-08 22:45:11 UTC : QA has given the 2.1.0d PTU candidate the greenlight. We are now testing launcher/patching. More information soon

WLeverett-CIG - 2016-01-08 22:47:01 UTC No invites. Open for all

what pedals did you have by the way?

Saitek Cessna Pro, only got them over the CH pedals (which would have worked better with my throttle - pair as one device) as they were on special and TBH the CH ones felt a little too close together, but miles better quality.

Basically because I was a cheapskate lol

PTU patch is up, some freelancer fixes, crash fixes and performance measures... seems to be a relatively small download compared to normal and I think it is using delta's as my download bar is already over 30% and I've only just started.

Yeah hearing a lot of good things about it, I can't be bothered putting the PTU on, it'd literally not finish downloading until Monday/Tuesday lol

Floatingdolphin - does this mean we might see you on one of the 10 for the... vids? ;)

I was thinking more as a regular on AtV seeing as we get trips to various studios, if Derby is now one I'm guessing *poke* we're getting an update with you lot soon ;)

It works incredibly well, FacetrackNOIR, EDTracker etc are excellent to and far cheaper (although lack some features/reliability). I only got a TrackIR5 as it was going cheap on the members market, I've had tons of use out of it in Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen when it did work, as well as Euro truck simulator.. :p

There's no lag though and being able to look around is fantastic, although I prefer the oculus rift 1/2 for the feeling of immersion I just can't wear those for long without it being uncomfortable and to be honest I'd need a new PC to be able to run the game at a suitable resolution and FPS for the rift so that completely rules it out. Plus I got a 40" 4K monitor for my 40th birthday back in May so I'm happy as larry with my setup :D

Hey Guys :)

I use the Delan Clip which I picked up off an auction site for around £20. You need a suitable web cam e.g. the Playstation 3 Eye (these can also be picked up cheap).

I use it with Freetrack v2.2 (Arma 3 and other FPS) and Opentrack 2.2 (Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen - not sure if it works anymore with Star Citizen however).

Works well but you have to tweak the software a lot to get the tracking right for your setup and movement etc.
