Swapped out my 2x 280x for a single GTX 970 and it's miles better....big moment today, I finally got into my Connie!

Took her a little spin and wandered around inside...pretty impressive :) I tried the stub fighter and when I tried to exit the seat it teleported me into EVA 140,000k from the ship :D
 
oh dear!

Vanguard is in-game and flyable now btw. Latest patch seems to have resolved quite a few issues but as always added a couple more. I'm still patching.. only 10 hours to go lol

Only one respawn, from round 11 i was on my own in there

Only my third run in the base model Hornet, first time with a N4-160f Turret mounted to the nose.

 

I have it on the vanguard.

It's..... Ok.

The weapons on all ships are only putting out a fractions of what they will do in the final game, as we have no armor system in place and the ships are don't have their true health points.

I imagine it will rinse smaller ships once all that's in place.

The rail gun on the Harbinger will be better, if it's anything like the mass driver on the 325a (which at the moment kills a constellation a handful of shots) it will be devastating.
 
Just ran through VS solo in the Vanguard, it's surprisingly maneuverable for such a large craft and can take a ton of damage. Not convinced it won't be tweaked though (some might call it nerfed) later.
 
I guess it's the like vanduul ships they're much slower than they are meant to be too.

guess they have to release it better than expected after the backlash for the vanduul ships which were the opposite and er still are lol
 
They've also indicated that the vanguard is still a 'greybox' and not complete and still subject to change, except for the tank tracks which are gone due to engine and animation issues; probably cost too much in terms of power and geometry to render and animate them... shame as they looked cool but understandable.
 
Lots of whinging about it, surprisingly about it being underpowered, yet I was two-shotting Scythes with it earlier and obviously without a gunner for the 4x M4As on the turret.

Also far too much comparison with the Super Hornet going on, two entirely different ships designed for different roles.. some people love to jump in on problems with unfinished or unbalanced ships (which is most ships IMHO!)
 
Havent see/heard those comparisons, it is a bit odd though, but i can kinda understand it as its the heavyweight version - packs a bigger punch but not as nimble. It wont help that its currently too manoeuvrable perhaps making it fly similar currently (unintentionally) and yet doesnt pack the same punch or a big enough punch to explain the price. Everything has to be taken as WIP, theres such a long way to go and i bet there isnt a single thing thats final, besides the name etc.

It'd be a lot better if we adopted the same approach as the issue council. 1 problem, 1 report. It doesnt need a dozen people all saying the same thing, it just makes things harder for them. We'd be more helpful making sure that a single clear message was being given, rather than dozens feeling like the world needs to read their verdict so start a new post about it. Let CIG know something isnt right, give them a chance to address it, and then when that update is available provide new feedback.

Ive also read a few people bringing up issues with the gatling gun & nose guns, the convergence is off and it sucks. Isnt that exactly how its supposed to be? Fixed guns will never align with gimbal guns, and thats ignoring projectile speeds being a factor. I could understand if one was so weak that it was almost pointless using it, so instead you just focus on 1 type making the 2nd a waste of time (thats largely why people monoboat).

I've always expected the nose guns to be somewhat OP, 4x size 2 tightly grouped, provided the ship can keep it supplied with power & cooling, they'll be extremely powerful. If you dropped the gimbal for the gatling and made it fixed, the convergence would tighten significantly allowing you to switch between energy weapon and projectile much quicker while letting the 4x2's recharge and cool.
 
Honestly I don't see the problem with the guns being under powered, got through all wave of VS without dying once, was two -shotting scythes frequently and what people seem to forget is they aren't getting the use of those 4xM4As yet, add those in and it's an absolute beast.
