******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

My understanding was that SQ42 and SC where a combined item for a single price until the 14th, after which they would be separate... I guess pledging for ships would give you SC and just buying SQ42 would get you that...

If you've currently got a package, you'll be fine as it says SQ42 on it but for new players from the 14th, they'll need to choose.

Ok thanks but er. Im more confused lol.

So does this mean that regardless Im gonna have to shell out for SC?
 
No, you're package contains a ship for SC and the SQ42 'addon'; this is what my Freelancer MIS package states:

Starting Money: 5,000 UEC
Lifetime Insurance
Digital Game Soundtrack
Digital Star Map
Digital Engineering Manual
Legacy Alpha
Squadron 42 Digital Download
Star Citizen Digital Download
Digital Star Citizen Manual

I've bolded the two game packages.

So does this mean that I effectively have both games regardless of whatever ship purchased?
 
For the backers before the 14th Feb, effectively we funded both SQ42 & SC, but now they're splitting them out... I suspect this is due to the more imminent release of SQ42 and the desire/need for more SC funding... Presently, the 35 quid base entry funds both and I guess they see a bigger revenue stream as two separate ones...

Best way to check is to look at a game package in your RSI account and look at the list of inclusions and if it says SQ42 digitial Download & SC Digital download, you are covered.
 
Just had another awesome night with some randoms on the server. They flew my ships and I did turret duty or watched... Still highly impressed not only with the fidelity, but also the systems in play, the style of each ship and how it fits together. I don't mind being blown up when its skill based and someone is better at aiming than me, even if their ships is more powerful, and its especially cool when a 'smaller' ship gets me!
 
There is a drop down box under the words 'My Gear' in the 'My Hanger' area. Select 'Game Packages' from that list, and then choose an item that shows up. These are the packages which give you game access. If what I posted earlier is there then you're fine. I believe that you are, but this is the most certain way to check if you have a package as only packages show when you select this option.
 
3 of us headed to vanduul swarm around 9pm tonight if anyone wants that 4th spot. I'm flying a cutlass for my next quick review so getting footage for the combat section. Still need to rent one with REC lol

Never flown one before, this could be a quick match :D In all seriousness though it's highly likely we'll make it right through all waves as we've been managing very well recently (when pete doesn't crash into me).

Last time only one of the 3 of us died and that was only once.. when Pete randomly exploded.

Managed to Upgrade the PC now to run Star Citizen and have enjoyed the experience broadly so far.

Had a go at Arena Commander on my own and got to Wave 13 in a Super Hornet, not sure how good that is really but it was fun enough.

Had a potter around the hanger and sat in my Sabre, just disappointed it does not 'power up' with the UI in the hanger as its a bit of an ornament until then.

Crusader (Mini Persistent Universe) is obviously in its infancy though definitely a great start and will be much better when things like earning REC, shopping, more mission types, linking ark corp into it, Nix etc are all available.
 
Sabre should be flight ready soon ;)

Wave 13 in the SH if that's your first, second or third attempt I'd say that was pretty good, better than I did anyway as I couldn't help crash into things.

I love Crusader, especially stowing away in random peoples Avenger beds then hopping out when they EVA and borrowing their ship. I return it if they ask in chat though, I'm not evil!
 
Lol, I really should look into all of this ships business.

I'm an original backer (one of the first 10,000 iirc), and backed at the Bounty Hunter tier(?)

No idea what ship I have, it could be an Origin. Should I be looking at other ships to get, or would doing that ruin the sense of progression when the game releases (rags to riches)?
 
Depends mate, if you haven't got a lot of free time you might want to get something else, but they can all be earned in-game.

If you've got the gaming time then just sit tight for now. It's worth while trying the alpha out now that Crusader is around, it's a little planetary system to mess around in, it's not persistent so people are just doing all sorts of random stuff :)
