******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Nah mostly just fluff and I expect it all to be in-game anyway, ships will be.

300i like the other 300 series is getting a complete rework so it'll look better and hopefully have a better loadout :)

Not yet its not, they're actually actively taking feedback on the feedback of owners right now, with the POSSIBILITY of that being used to implement changes.

The reality is that it does need them, and CIG obviously had the understanding to go back to the Constellation 3 times to get it right, so i doubt they'd say the 300 series was right first time, cos it was designed before so many of their gameplay pipelines and things like cargo dont really conform to this ships capabilities.

Most people expect it to happen, but right now they're clearly not committing to it, only looking at the possibility.

If anyone is an Imperator subscriber and has a 20% discount code going please let me know as i have a friend who wants to get on board but cash is tight and he would appreciate the code

Ben allegedly confirmed it on one of the RtVs a while ago but it's low priority and unlikely to happen any time soon. Nobody has ever actually told me what RtV it was though, which speaks volumes lol

Pretty nice post here about the issues with the ship:

I can sell a $30 starter pack if he wants mate screenshot in one of my recent posts at cost obviously.

Are you sure the $30 one included sq42? i thought it was one of the examples Ben mentioned as the exceptions (AMD 2nd phase, $30 ones, and something else).

I dont remember it being mentioned when they were doing them though, so maybe im getting the wrong end of the stick.

also, the discounts rarely get freely passed around, doubt someone would give away their 10-20% off voucher to be used to save someone $4.50 or $9.00, and any larger saving is a larger expense not stopping them from buying a package etc. If someone was buying a Javelin or something awesome, to knock upto $100 off the price is a big deal, but thats one of the big perks to the $120-240/yr subscriptions. it'd be cheaper to give someone $10 than a 10% code used on say a Carrack, Orion, Genesis, Endeavor etc which i'd imagine is what most ppl would use them for, or sell them to those who will.

I didnt last that long.

Bought one of my Lti P72s back and CCUd it to a Khartu-al this weekend.

:(

So thats now:

Sabre
Vanguard and upgrade kits.
BMM
Star G
Khartu-al.

:( :( :(

Oh dear! I just noticed your post :D This is why I usually tell people to just buy the basic one and ignore ever ship that's mentioned as they'll end up buying it. It's too hard to resist at times! At my peak I had almost 3 times as many ships as now across my accounts, fortunately sanity kicked in and the grey market gave me a way to lessen the load!

I keep having a discussion with myself about changing my cutlass black to a freelancer... and then I start thinking of just getting another starter ship and upgrading that over time....

Wait until they sort the Cutlass out, I few a cutlass black last night in Vanduul swarm and it was horrible, harder to control than my Glaive by a long way. One of the worst I've flown :( so much for a manoeuvrable ship!

Freelancer is surprisingly good, it does fly like a proper merchant cargo ship though, it's no fighter.

Is the Khartu al coming anytime soon then? I bought one yonks ago and have basically ignored the game until that comes out.

Still in the works but they are actually working on it, this was released just a couple of days ago: http://imgur.com/a/CXLLO

TBH I think after the problems they've had with the Cutlass they're probably trying to figure out how the hell to get it to work!

At the moment, the Freelancer is a much nicer ship to fly IMO. Its more polished, packs a decent punch to enjoy the combat (its really all we've got atm). When they do their 3rd attempt at the Cutlass that could all change, and it could be more to your style anyway. But right now, the Freelancer is probably the most well-rounded ships we have and is a nice enough size for a small crew (size and marginally bigger crew being the Constellations let-down for 'small' crews)

Its looking very likely that it'll either be in-hangar for 2.2 (due this month) or 2.3 (next month), not entirely sure about flyable state but it probably wouldnt be far behind then either.

2.2 should contain some of the following:
Starfarer in-hangar (Gemini owners should get a hangar loaner) - now that was yonks ago ;)
Reliant in-hangar (Kore, not sure about the variants), possibly flyable.
Khartu al/Xi'an Scout in-hangar, unlikely flyable.
Sabre flyable.

If its not included, probably look to the next month. The P-72 cant be far away either, but havent heard anything about it tbh.

Other stuff on the horizon would be Nyx planetside and Casaba clothing store opening with basic clothing.

I didn't realise how flimsy the Constellation class was at the moment! was being an annoying pirate and followed one to a comm point from Port Olisar, it was fully loaded with at least four players, two on the turrets and two in the pilot area. Came up behind it while it wasn't paying attention... the main vanguard gun and about 10s of the laser shots obliterated it without any damage on my ship... I'm not sure how much of a chance it had to return fire before its shields where down...

I just read a rumour that they're planning on splitting up the Single Player and Online games, and buying them together later will cost more?
Anyone know more?

I might have to pick it up now if that's the case - I know I'm going to want to play this soon, but haven't picked it up yet...

yep, on the 14th you will have to buy each part separate, so if you want in now is the time.

No rumour, its fact so if you are going to get on board you have 10 days left.

It's likely to cost double what the price is at the moment, Squadron 42 is essentially going to be a stand alone AAA title. Especially after all the work FloatingDolphin has put in ;)

Hi, would like to get onboard with this, would anyone mind giving a complete newbie a brief rundown on how to get started, for example which ship to get going with.

Don't want to spend a vast fortune just yet, would say budget around 60 quid.
