******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Does anyone else get a lot of coil whine when playing star citizen?

I cant remember getting any last time I played it (maybe 6 months ago) I didnt get any then, but I'm getting an annoying amount playing it now. When I say playing, I mean either in loading screens or while alt+tabed out lol.

I've never heard any coil whine from my pc before except during windows experience score index thingy.

Coil whine is hardware based, you should be able to get it in any other taxing game/benchmark that pushes hardware hard. I haven't had it with SC but then again I haven't had it with any other game either :)

I did a review of the 325A this week and it's pretty damn good, was pre-latest patch though so don't know if it's got worse/better since.

Really enjoyed flying it though, was like the Glaive but more controllable.

2.2.0? its much better in 2.2.1, it was very wayward in 2.2.0. if you spent an extended time puling manoeuvres it would go into a state of endless drifting, the boost was also not powerful enough to push it out of its drifting.

They fixed it in 2.2.1, ( After loud complaining :D ) its still not as agile as it was in 2.1 and the boost is still somewhat weak.

I think with the $200 Sabre they decided ships like the $85 300 series are too close in their agility, so they nerfed it, only first time round they took so much power out of the thrusters once it went into a high-speed drift it wouldn't recover.

Prior to the 2.2.1 fix i took it into Swarm and used it the way i'm used to, it quickly became unflyable and i was hitting rocks miles away after drifting into them not being able to push out of the drift for some considerable length of time.

Its still not as directional and snappy as it was, it feels more lazy / underpowered, but its still good..... well, better than some other fighters like the Hornet, the Gladius and Sabre are now significantly better, it used to be a lot closer.
if they nerf it again tho they will render it crap.

It was 2.2.1 I'm sure was Monday night so whatever patch we were on then lol. I thought it was pretty ace tbh! Never found waves 10/11 so damn easy before :) Things only got nasty post wave 14 and only usually as I'd crash!

Did spent far longer than usual testing that ship though due to the client stability problems, must have played waves 1-8 about 10 times.

May have been 2.2.1.

You see why i like it so much? the Hornet is one thing, its a gun-ship and thats great but its no fun, it feels generic. the Gladius is too focused for what i'm after.

The 325A has charisma, it squats down and kicks when you hit boost, the engines make an explosive noise at the same time. you can get close to objects at high speed knowing you can flick the nose round; hit boost and it will change direction quickly.....
Its the kind of ship you don't expect to be anything like as good as it is, especially now that its had a boost in its durability.

Many a' time i have had the usual Freelancer owner look at me in my 325A at Kareah and think "easy meal" attack me and get a huge shock when i run rings round them and pick them apart with gimballed MA series lasers.
I sit there at Kareah waiting for one of them to have a go, even F7C Hornet's, i have no fear of them.
The only ship i fear is the Sabre.

Its not half as much fun to rock up in a Hornet or a Freelancer, you look menacing, people leave you alone, in the 325A you look like an easy kill, you make them regret it.

Ok, we'll have to arrange a Crusader meet when you have time. had a lot of fun with Pete the other night, it would be even more fun with you in it too.

Out this evening at a mate who in trying to get into the game lol probably on for Saturday evening if anyone on ocuk is up for it. Party system working yet?

Should have mentioned this before...

The Sledge II Mass was updated to a Strife Mass Driver https://robertsspaceindustries.com/electronic-access/Weapon-Roms/Strife-Mass-Driver
I say upgraded, its a higher priced weapon but the Sledge II Mass was far more accurate.

It is 2.2.0, the HUD is still missing, that was fixed in 2.2.1.

Interesting that you mentioned drifting, compared with 2.1 it was shockingly bad, given what i was used to i coined it unflyable, a little spoilt perhaps, its much less pronounced in 2.2.1.

Great Showcase, as usual from you.

PS: 2.2.2 out to PU soon no doubt...

We're inviting you to a quick Public Test Universe (PTU) playtest for Star Citizen Alpha 2.2.2 tonight! This is a limited PTU session, so this playtest is restricted to those that had access to 2.2.0 on PTU.

Ah so RSI site stats out of date for the weapons? Honestly that main gun I just gave up on it seems to pick a direction and fire only if there wasn't a ship in the way :D

Citcon tickets coming up next week but it's in LA :-/

Haha... thats a good way to put it :D
Yes its currently wrong, it was changed in 2.2.0
The Sledge II that was on it before wasn't bad but to me it was just hogging a Gimbal slot for a more 'all purpose' gun.

Wish i could afford to go to LA..... maybe next year.
