******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

The general rule in terms of office/computer setup is that your wrist should be pretty much flat/level to the angle the keyboard and mouse would be at. Thats a weird way of saying your wrist should be straight :D
Thats H&S stuff to protect themselves from complaints from extended use at an uncomfortable etc, but the reasoning is relevant to what you're asking about.

Im lucky that my setup i can actually have the HOTAS mounted just under the keyboard tray, so i can slide the tray over and it sits about 5mm above the base of the stick, so the stick & throttle are at a decent height.

The most likely seems like it'd be to clamp or attach a 'shelf' which sits under the tabletop, so it can be say 3" lower and can be spun round so that it doesnt stick out when its not in use. It'd require minimal construction or expense, and if done with some thought, could probably be done without feeling like you're hacking something up to do it, it could be removed and not look any different to now.

Have a google round for things like 'HOTAS Mounts' and i bet you'll find a solution you think would fit your needs. Stuff like Halfmad just pointed to, there should be plenty of it.

I just has a go in the Omega, i have not flown it in combat for a long time.

Its really not bad, the M3A's do the job, they are fixed but it doesn't mater, its so agile the whole ship is a gimbal.
You can make yourself a very difficult target to hit, and you'd need to, for all practical purposes it has no shields and a paper hull.

Still, if you can avoid getting hit its ok.

I prefer fixed weapons, probably as I use a HOTAS though I guess so gimbals are a pain in the...

tbh most of the ships in Star citizen are good or really good, there isn't a huge amount between them in terms of flight capability with a few exceptions (Cutlass/Glaive are poor). I just hope they start tweaking them so they feel more individual, give some of more character.

PS still patching.. taking ages!

I suspect when we get armor properly/actually implemented that should add quite a big element, its like comparing the ships without shields being implemented.
Right now all the ships are like paper, and i dont think the hulls have extra 'HP' to balance that out, to add say 50% more HP to account for the loss of armor.

Yeah true, that's usually why I don't whinge about one being more powerful than the other, it's all likely to change dramatically as new elements are patched in.

I do like comparing them just now but only so in 3+ years time I can look back at short vids and see how they changed.

Yeah, no harm in evaluating them to one another, but i think when people make decisions based on todays balance of content, its going to lead to them feeling short-changed or had the rug pulled out from under them. Its a lot easier when you've got larger amounts invested, because you can flip-flop around and buy stuff back later on, its not quite as easy when its a single package account. But the best thing to do IMO is enjoy whatever is 'hot' that month, and dont get too attached to anything till later unless you love the look/role of the ship and its place in the universe at release isnt the most important factor. Enjoy everything now, settle for what you want when the time comes that you need to lock it all down.

Very true I've flown mostly rented ships recently, particularly fond of many of the lower value pledge ships though like the LN and Gamma, just fun to fly.

You know, i always forget about renting :D
It doesnt help that i dont play AC or w/e in order to rack up REC and then use them, im just hoarding them like one day they might be worth millions :D

We got any theory about what happens when the sale ends? Typically they've something up their sleeve, Citicon LA tickets are going on sale on Thurs.. just seems like they're up to something!

When what sale ends? Sabre & Scout?
They mentioned something at the end of RtV like there might be a sale, not sure what that'd be, but apparently they've implied we'd have a concept sale by the end of March too, not sure what it'd be for though. The Corvette seems too soon, boarder i believe they want to hold off cos of the race design doc, dragonfly seems early, as does the new cutlass/drake pirate ship.

Sorry, hungover earlier, meant when the free flight ends lol.

I was thinking along the lines of "Sale" or something equally as routine, perhaps yet another concept ship announced that'll be pushed up the line like the Sabre or one to sit at the back of the bus with the Merchantman etc.

Weds 5PM UTC - Subscribers access to Citcon LA tickets (1 per account), everyone else gets access to buy them on Friday.

Thurs 6PM GMT - Concierge get access to buy the new star map poster, everyone else gets access on Friday.

both limited number, likely they'll only allow the early access folk to order up to a cap so there are always some held back.

No idea why one time is set as UTC and other as GMT as they're the same just now lol

Im more surprised that its either of UTC or GMT, for something based on the west coast USA, which typically lists most things with a PST time.
Just PST it ffs, they'll know where they stand with that, all the live sports events are listed as being 4pm EST, 1pm PST etc they certainly dont slap a GMT based time on there.

Also, seeing as yesterdays comm link schedule had 'concept sale? concept sale' for Friday, im expecting it to be the Dragonfly. If it was anything else, they'd have warned people in advance, but i expect this to come in at about $25-30, somewhere between the Merlin & Archimedes, maybe parity with the Aurora & Mustang, but it seems more like a personal transport ship (a space bike), so that could explain why they're not feeling the need to warn people to budget for a ship.
The Buccaneer & the border arent ready, and i doubt its the Corvette esp without decent warning.

I think it'll be more expensive but tbh I'm not interested, I'll get it on REC when it's in-game and then consider. Even if you are LTI obsessed these days there's really no reason to buy concept ships at that stage with the melt system unless you happen to have the cash sitting about gathering dust :)

I'll probably bank one, using my melted Reclaimer's play-funds, i doubt i'd keep it (it'd be the first thing on the melting block if need be) but if i decide much later on that i wouldnt mind it then its nice to have the LTI, poster & model too.

I'd also imagine that by the time most of the upcoming concept sale ships (and many of those from just over 12 months ago (Reclaimer, Carrack, Orion, Hull's etc) they'll most likely exist in-game at a point when we have persistence and shops to buy them in-game. I really think those 4 ive just listed wont be seen this year, and we'll almost certainly have some sort of persistence and credit earning/buying/selling system in 6mo time, so extending to ships doesnt seem unreasonable.

Im not normally too cynical about CIG's practices, but i could be about whether or not they'd be so eager to release UEC ship stores, REC kinda does this in a way that doesnt quite feel like its really yours as its rented, but when its flyable if its a choice between $200 or 20,000UEC (or REC) it could see funding slow down. Also on that note, we hit $110m the other day, to not much fanfare - remarkable really, $110m and nobody really bats an eyelid :D

We use to do it weekly but after I missed a couple when on holidays they never started up again.. I'll be on Saturday evening around 8pm uk. Normally on Friday too but poker night this week! Happy to fly with whoever is about

Really surprised about that, but that being said, they've got a whole heap of SQ42 content which could be sold if they wanted to.

I wouldnt mind, provided they were done in limited quantities AND it was a lottery.
5 ships, put your name down for what you want, and CIG draw 50 for each, or an appropriate quantity, then say +5 as backups. Only allowed to opt in to 2, and then give those people 24hrs to be notified and make the purchase, any left-overs go to the 51st, 52nd... person.
This process of fastest on the buzzer, prompting people to hammer F5 for some update for however-long it takes to be one of the few to buy one is a damn joke, and its hardly any better doing it at 2 timeslots. Let everyone have a chance, and let the odds of being one of the lucky few be equal. That said, anyone with multiple accounts can increase their odds too :( but at least you can still be picked while at work, school, living life etc. Not that i'd likely ever want one of these, but it still sucks for people.

It's the "Blade" vanduul light fighter that's going up tonight. Pretty conflicted about it, yet another fighter, yet another vanduul ship that's somehow in our hands etc etc. I'd love to see more non-combat ships but.. and I know this will sound bitchy non-combat ones are arguably harder to do.

I agree with the lottery tbh Paul, I'm not interested in yet another fighter especially one that being Vanduul will have poor flight mechanics like the Scythe and Glaive but more about the fact that we're going to have a situation where we are just as likely to encounter a human in a vanduul ship as a vanduul in one at this rate :)
