Some gifs someone made from the latest ATV

Yep I think I'd sit and watch that sunset too.

Hey, i was stuttering a lot too, i found a little " fix " for it.

If you check your cpu usage in task manager ( per core view ) you may see that one of your cores is pinned at 100% what you want to do is note down what core this is ( in my case core 3 ) and go into task manager again onto the details tab for star citizen and right click the exe and change the affinity and turn OFF the core you noted early.

This in my case caused the game to then use all my cores and run a lot smoother, my frame rate still sits in the mid to high twenty's but it's now got a lot less stutter and no frame drops really.

I hope this helps :)
Thanks, it seemed to fix itself for me after launching a third time. Weird. :)

Great fan video here:

:( Was having some nice fun doing some ICC missions, although the pirates dont appear to erm... move much. I could just coast up to them with both pips lined up and nail it with both weapons, they'd do a little 'ugggh shouldnt have done that' blurb, move a little, then park up about 1km away maybe.

That aside, and momentarily going back to something from the other day... i spawned in at Olisar, flew to Yela to get to Grim-HEX. It was listed on the QD display, it was just blocked. never saw anyone but i did do a little pew-pew in open space in Yela, and im not sure if that triggered something, but i noticed a dirty lowlife criminal icon was there, 1-bar. Okay, doesnt matter. Eventually got to Grim-Hex in the Starfarer, blew up just as we got to spot the landing pads, i spawned at Grim-Hex, my mate back at Olisar. We met up at some comm relay and went back, had some fun. When he left, i went to Kareah (ooh, correct spelling :D), waltzed in, deleted the records, flew to Olisar and quit for the night.

So today, after previously deleting their false incriminating evidence... i spawn at GH again. No crim icon though, so i just ignored it, do a few ICC missions with AI pirates who seem to fall asleep during combat, and after a few missions i got to get some repairs, mainly because a wonderful bit of lag returned my ship to a location with wreckage right in-front of it. Just as i get to the repair place, security launch a missile, i try to avoid going under the station, it hits, i go boom, screen goes black, screen stays black :'''(

No idea why it think im a dirty rotten pirate, but its rather weird. Fun while it lasted though.

The pirates were attacking me though, took me a while to figure out how to select a target cos was trying to use the HOTAS, and they were shooting at me alright (including 4 missiles which never materialised or lost the lock till i Q-jumped), so its not like the AI saw me as a pirate and left me alone, from what i can tell.

I can already tell im going to be the worst combat pilot in the SC universe :D, but thankfully a few of the keybinds i'd previously set up were still there so it didnt need re-doing. I should try and make a note of what buttons ive mapped stuff, for future reference when they wipe it and i go through the hassle of figuring out what i want and where.

In SQ42 i'll be dismissed before ive even left the capital ship hangar :D

Logged into the Star Citizen website for the first time in ages and saw that I can now change out my Mustang Omega for a 300i free of charge - which seems like a good deal to me. But... is there any reason for keeping the Omega that I might have overlooked?

I had an issue of clearing my records and the next day being a pirate again i find now that clearing my record and then doing an icc mission and logging out in olisar stops me from spawning at grim the next time i boot in.

Cheers, i'll give that a try. Could be months till i jump in again, i follow day to day progress but play every other month at best hehe. Ignoring jumping in on Wednesday, the previous time was mid March and even that was done streamed through a mates comp (in Oslo) using my login so i could take him on a tour of the Starfarer and see it from my end too (my upload is horrific) :D
Tempted to give it another go this weekend though.

From what i can tell, the most significant reason for people wanting to keep the Omega is because its exclusive to that offer (which IMO it absolutely shouldnt be - and i have one) and so nobody will be able to buy one from a dealership in the PU, although the Gamma is 99% identical from what i understand (same price, racing, lacks the scoop under the cockpit iirc, where the Omega has one above and below, and the paint scheme). To some, thats worth a lot... but it was an AMD deal for about 9mo so a lot who really value that sort of stuff will own one already - but i guess a lot of people who dont currently play SC might still want to be collectors.
There does seem to be a small group of people who want to keep old ships and have them unused, seeing them as vintage ships replaced by newer models and while we can restore battered ships, they'll never go back to pristine condition so to them thats priceless.

Beyond that, unless you're into racing, and absolutely cant possibly have the Gamma... i dont really see it being kept by most people. I turned mine into the Delta fairly soon after i got it. I think that was $5, i dont use it, but its a $0 value ship to melt it, and spending $5 makes it slightly more useful and i quite like the mustangs anyway.

Just remember you never want to melt it, its a $0 item, and adding a $5 CCU only makes it worth $5 even if the ship is being sold for $50 or w/e, and you cannot unmelt it, CS wont ('cant') so unless they implement downgrades (supposed to be happening) you kinda need to think about what you apply to it. A $0 seems pretty harmless though, but you'll never be able to turn it back into the Omega.

Hi Paul - thanks for your comprehensive reply :) I'm not a fan of racing and I think the 300i will be more use - so upgrade it is!

So - to ask another question - my account has two packages (my base account with an Avenger to which I added an AMD code with the Omega/300i). Now - does this mean that in SC I will have 2 characters each with 1 ship or 1 character with 2 ships and an NPC who I can use as a crew member at some point if I get a bigger ship. Not really sure how this will work - if someone could explain that would be brilliant :)

Offtopic but I love your signature, The Water Margin was great. :D

Anyway regarding the Omega, if you're not into racing then I wouldn't be worried about losing "exclusivity" and all that - if you don't like or have no need for the ship then best to change. 300i should get a rework in the future to bring it in line with newer ship design, and in any case it is a solid starter platform with good customisation.

I'm really happy with the performance in 2.5...
the vid below is typical, sometimes its even better.

Yes, i went and got my trusty 325A back, added Bulldogs on Gimbals to the wings and a juicy Tarantula on the nose..... Dumph...Dumph...Dumph...BOOM!!:D

Only problem is they messed up the HUD on the 300, its buggy, it does a disparaging act sometimes, that ruined the last battle in this vid for me, 6 Pirates in that one, just the right amount.
At the end of the first battle i think we had a noob in an M50, looked like he hit Self Destruct trying to get out :o

Looks like you got on a nice server there too that really helps! I have been on a fresh server hitting 50fps but then 1 hour later in the same spot down to 20 :)

Nice fight though!

can anyone recommend me a nice tutorial guide or video of how to start out properly here? I mean, Ive played the game, love it but just aimlessly walk around in awe at space etc. I've just got a very basic ship, no idea about upgrading or melting ships. No idea what a good package or base ships are etc.

np :)

Its not exactly certain yet, pretty much all we know is what you've mentioned. Chris has said things like you'll be able to customise them exactly the same as your main character, and you can bring them along as crew or have them lead 2 different lives so you can be in one system for its mining opportunities, and another for beating back the Vanduul or hunting pirates. It could be quite useful if you like doing a specific role but play with others in an org who do something else, you're not restricted to staying in the same system as the others or doing the 90min travel that could well be involved in hopping a few systems to get back to them for org activities.

We'll also be able to buy additional characters separately too, apparently. One thing they've repeatedly said is we cant have 'slaves' so you cant buy & own NPCs, they'll be paid a wage. With alts, id imagine the same will be true, they'll expect a share of a jobs pay or something, however if you control their bank account... they cant stop you from paying them a regular wage and donating it back to you whenever you next log in etc. I think its more of a political correctness of owning people, they wont stop us circumnavigating it, they just dont want to portray that image as acceptable in the 30th century.

Another uncertainty is how many we can have, and how many will be able to manage (take with us to boss about etc). Pretty certain that you wont be able to tell them to go fly somewhere, and go mine, then tell them to sell it when your informed they're full etc. They can escort us, do jobs alongside us, but we cant turn it into a management game where we do nothing and send NPC characters off to work for us.

We know NPC will have skill levels, they can improve, and want paying based on how good they are. Not sure how alt characters would do that, because theres no skill tree or XP levels etc for players to make them better, however maybe when they're NPC controlled they assume some defined skill level and use that, so 'you' could be a awesome pilot as an NPC, but as a player you gain nothing from it while playing as them.

Thats about all i can think of thats NPC relevant. Most of the uncertainty is dependant upon what they're able to achieve, balance etc.

This isn't too bad. He does tell some misinformation regarding it being in alpha and the current state of donations and such however as a guide for the current patch it's acceptable.

This gets asked a lot, so much i'm thinking about making such a tutorial, the problem is i have never done a video tutorial, so it will probably end up bad, maybe not too bad if i keep it very simple.... :o

Right now its a small sandbox space with not a lot to do other than shoot at stuff.

A good starter ship at this point is the Mustang Alpha
Its quick, its agile, its weapons are effective and on gimbals, so they are easy to use.
It is very fragile, so if things get sticky get out of there, you wont last long if someone fire is finding you.

An upgrade from that would be the Avenger Titan
It shares many of the attributes of the Mustang while being much more durable, and it has a cargo hold which will come in useful at the end of the year with Alpha 3.0.

For a pure fighter thats very quick and agile with reasonable durability and firepower the Gladius is the one to go for.

Then the Hornet F7C
A bigger heavier fighter with lots mounting options, fully kitted out its a real force to be reckoned with, tho its not as fast or as agile as the Gladius.

Then you have a whole bunch of bigger more specialised ships, for cargo, multi-crewing ecte.. tho some are also good for versatility roles, like the Freelancer and the Constellation

To upgrade your ship go to Store > Ship Upgrades chose the ship you want to upgrade on the left, what to upgrade to on the right.
