Landing is N to drop the landing gear > go to a 'white highlighted' pad, be less than 10m high off the pad and hold down N until landed....

I think it might be time for me to make a series of tutorials.

Things that actually made the game playable?

2.6 ruined what was great in 2.5.

Weapon grouping - so annoying how they cocked this up!
FoV - it's just awful how they've stopped anyone being able to change it. Can't see **** in the cockpit!
Flight Combat - I liked the idea to remove the cruising speeds, but they slowed down the combat too much!
Joining a lobby with friends - such a pain in the arse now as we have to log into the hangar first to use the elevator!

Etc...
 
Ah yes, that reminds me. Why, WHY is there no graphical options?

And please dev's, if you're reading this, please, PLEASE prioritise your launcher clients download bandwidth. I've never had something take utter priority and totally hog my entire bandwidth lol.

It's a wonder how anyone has managed to get by so far without any hand holding.

A miracle indeed.

Just thinking back to the first days of such difficult things as looking at the key bindings, then moving the character to things that look like controls and then pressing buttons.

I jest of course, but ffs just review the key bindings and use some common sense.

Or you know, have an introduction tutorial to explain the basics which takes 5 minutes? It's a bit more than basic key bindings...

Hardly hand holding, just common sense. If you wish to use the term.

To elaborate the frustration, it's more an explanation of how the games universe works. Such as requesting your ship to be deployed, that you need a suit and how to equip it. How to view missions, accept missions, land, take off, explanation of said missions, how to interact with other players. Sure, I could spend 15 minutes of my time looking at keybindings and learning the fundamentals. But if they wish to appeal to a larger audience who don't want to scramble around elementary designed menus, they will have to do some hand holding.

However, I understand it's alpha, so I can't expect a polished item and I'm not. I'm just voicing my opinion as a 'noob' to the game.
 
To be fair, the game is very very hard for a noob.

I really enjoyed solo racing initially, trying to beat my best times (though I did have an omega). You don't have to learn many buttons, and it really teaches you how to control your ship. Its so satisfying when you can complete flying lap of old vanderval more often than not!

But I imagine most would find that boring to be honest lol

We usually start with a round or few of Vanduul swarm which is a dog fighting arena with 4 vs 18 waves of AI.

Then we go into the universe and sometimes do some missions ( there are a chunk of missions but are slightly samey samey until 3.0 ) But they are there for sure. Sometimes we go exploring or go fighting criminals at kareah or be criminals and fend of the goodies.

I'm just voicing my opinion as a 'noob' to the game.

We have all been there the first few games are pretty overwhelming as you are finding out. It all seems so simple once you have grasped it but we are always happy to help anyone. Typically for instance if we get stuck in a game of Vanduul with a noobie who only manages to hit a ship a few times throughout a wave we don't mind, we tend to leave him on a solo target away from the hordes so he can practice comfortably.

I think you would do better with a crew to show you what is what to be honest. You would probably learn more in a day playing with experienced players than a week solo :)
 
Well, I'll leave this alone for a while and I'm a bit sad my partner dropped $72 dollars on this game. 25fps on average on a 980ti @1440p... Maybe 30fps @1080p and all on low? What an atrocious mess.

I'll search around tomorrow for any tweaks I can do to increase FPS. But as it stands, that's unplayable. I've no idea how you guys manage.
 
In the "universe" that's how it is really for the time being.

If you playing arena commander or star marine etc, then that's much better.

Just tried. At low settings, it was a fluctuation between 50fps and 20fps. I'll leave it for a while longer and boot up Elite Dangerous for my space exploration fix. Sadly, it's still shallow as anything. But will do for a few hours. My partner is looking at custom configs. But I've no hope for this right now.
 
Think i'll wait until this goes on offer or has a free play weekend so get a good idea of it. I just want to fly around space tbh :o

Good idea :) Exploring space is pretty mesmerizing on it thanks to the views.
