Well gents as briefly mentioned earlier tonight i have been working on a video where humbug is once again the punchline...... sorry @humbug
It's only short sadly the original clip isn't long or i could have done so much more. Takes a surprising amount of time to do that type of edit.

Different set of developers, ship designers are not game designers, ecte.....
so the ship designers cant do anything else but design ships?

No.. they specialise in designing ships. That is why they are employed.
Would you want a lighting designer writing the lore? or a physics specialist designing a ship? a motion tracking engineer designing sound? no of course because they would be **** at it. Ships happen to have a very efficient pipeline through the different speciality jobs and they work well together thus we do see them relatively frequently. It's just the way it is in any medium/large game development studios.

No. Ships sell.
it's a mix, they have always had staff dedicated to ships as it's always been a huge focus. if you look at sales over the years it has taken them a while to really exploit them to fill potential. which is all about bringing in funds.
nobody is forced to buy anything beyond the basic package. it can all be earned in game later
