******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Schedule up date 11/08/2017

Interestingly they have now removed all release windows, i think they finally realised that dangling the 3.0 carrot infront of people only to push it back 2 week when it gets near, and to do that over and over for months is not a good idea, it cause a lot of frustration and anger amongst backers.

Current bugs to be resolved, it was 14 Blockers with 90 total last week, this week its 12 with 83 Total.

My opinion, not before Gamescom, not even after Gamescom, more like after Citcom.

Gamescom: 23/08/2017
CitCom: 27/10/2017 < yes i think that is more realistic, even for evocati, live release in November / December.

As much as I support Star Citizen, they really need to get their act together when it comes to delivering on patches. I know the dates are estimates of the best case scenarios, but when they say weeks, often it ends up being like 3 - 12 months, how can the estimates be that far out? They also could do with telling us when things aren't going to happen, rather than waiting until its D-day, and then saying, sorry guys, its nowhere near ready. Gamescom last year was an example of that.

Anyway, on another subject. I saw a thread in spectrum today which made me think. Its planned we will all be playing on the same "super server", albeit with some instancing when necessary. Is it not going to cause issues when we meet players from OCE or the far east? Surely the ping is going to be horrific causing desync? Trying to dogfight or FPS with an OCE player will be interesting.

Also I wonder how its going to work with langue? With everyone on the same server, a good proportion of the players you see will be non english speakers. How are you going to negotiate with a Russian pirate? Or trade with the Chinese chap who has the stuff you want to buy?

you'll usually be matched with layers from your nearest server cluster fun what I gather unless they are a person of interest to you eg a friend.

patch delays.. I've said all I want to in the past about those many, many times

I think you already know the answers. It won't happen and it wont work. Eve online allows players from all over the world to play with each other only because it works in server ticks. Unless CIG develops faster than light technology it simply wont work.

I finally pulled my finger out last week and requested a refund. A few emails later with the support at zendesk and I had a full refund of almost £600. I didnt realise I had sunk so much into the game.

May buy the game again later in development, but for now, I've no confidence in what they are currently doing.

It's the psychology of micro-transactions but the sums are bigger. Don't blame you for refunding, they've more than had a fair stab at the fund raising chestnut imho but I'm not going to criticize anyone who invests in it either… it could truly be amazing & I just hope they pull it off. But for me, atm, I'm backing Elite.

Fair enough.

I would probably of just refunded all the extra expenses you'd and kept the base game you originally backed. It was significantly cheaper then it is now and rather than spending £80 for SQ42 & SC later it would have made sense to see how it goes over the next 12 months and you could always have refunded rest later. This assuming you didn't back and purchase extras in the last 3 years or so you also would have kept any early backer extras that you wont if you do jump back in.

I can see why people are tired to a point but honestly I don't really understand this loss of confidence mainly because I don't really understand why people backed not realising that it could be years away or even never for the game to materialise when they first started developing.

It was always a risk and should only put in what you feel comfortable loosing. Why I have kept my spend to a minimum, that and I want to get in game to earn as much as I can.

My understanding is that refunds are an all or nothing thing, including closure of the account.

Oh, that is interesting because I was aware that someone on Spectrum showed that they only wanted a partial refund and customer service had no problem with that. It was only a few weeks ago. Seems hit and miss on who you talk too at CIG though looking online.

.
because, as said before, they were told a timeline by the company during Kickstarter etc and those dates, even though reasonable at the time, have expired YEARS ago. coming out w/ the old "well how long do you think it takes to make a game" cuts no ice now, as it shouldn't. it's perhaps legit given the expansion [or is that "bloat"] of the vision, but then that wasn't what people Kickstarted, is it? i haven't got a refund, but i saw the writing on the wall years back and quit the Imperator subscription as i thought back then they were beginning to take the p, and though i was happy to do the KS, given my love of WC games, i would have racked up an unacceptable £100s more now for a subscription that basically means SFA. unless you think the odd hanagar decoration etc etc is awesomely worthy of a few hundred quid.
if it comes out, i'll be over the Moon, if it's got any of the playability of say WC Prophecy, but at the mo, i've kinda written the money off.

and really, do you SERIOUSLY think anyone would have backed if they legitimately thought the game would never come out? "yeah, here's £xxx, it's never going to happen but have my money anyway!"

I am not going to rehash this, we have already a few times. The dates given were only expected and goals, that is it. Simple as that. Nothing after that and peoples personal thoughts doesn't really mean anything right down to the fact that the dates were always subject to change.
