******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I have to admit @humbug last week i actually requested a refund, ( i will be staying invested in the game ) but for now would rather have my +£1000 back as i literally can't do anything with it and i haven't been able to do what i was promised in the time frame.

You know yourself how much i adore SC but there comes a point where it gets silly. I need to pull it back sooner before it's too late.

I don't blame you, as long as you buy back in when 3.0 eventually lands. :)

Can you get a refund on part of the account? E.g. keep a lower package so you can remain in the game so to speak but get most of the expense back?

Well...... its all gone to ####

Moderator Maul218 https://robertsspaceindustries.com/citizens/Maul218

Locked this thread as in breach of Rule 9.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...hat-point-for-you-is-it-taking-too-lon/446279

First i would like to make my disagreement about the decision, the question i asked about what people felt was a reasonable time to wait for the project to be launched.
The very first thing i did in it is made it very clear that i understood the reason and was satisfied there was no problem, further more i expressed my gratitude to the CIG developers for the hard work they were doing.
It was abundantly clear that the thread had no i'll will or intent what so ever.

With that said how could it possibly be in breach of rule 9? it is not.

Which brings me to the complaint i wish to make against the moderator.

He/She did not explain why or how it was in breach of said rule, this person further issued me with a Rule 7 warring when i further asked for a proper explanation. it was at that point that i started to feel like i was not going to get that explanation, the whole thing to be frank felt a lot like bullying, that is a genuine complaint i have against this person.

I have been a genuine backer with a feeling that we were creating something great here, not just a game but a place where as members of a community we had a level of respect for each-other that is hard to find.

I feel like that has just been shattered. i have been chastised in an almost passive aggressive manor and i have done nothing wrong.

Rule 7, basically it states that you are not allowed to disagree with the mods, wow...

Rule 9 is there too.

it's one of the reasons I tend not to post on the main forums and prefer our discord. The responses are generally ***** or mods needing with things.

been like that for years. entirely GDs fault as it's always been a mess, but the mods treat the whole site the same.

For me it remains to be seen if this is deliberate, IE CIG are trying to create an Echo-Chamber and are basically bullying people who don't fit that agenda out, or if this is something far more innocent that gets put right.

I actually find it hard to believe that the former is true, not even EA behave like this with their official forums and i'm pretty sure reprimanding their members in this way for said agenda 'who have not actually done anything wrong' is illegal, it can actually land them in hot water.

Their response to me will determine it.

I honestly think there's a degree of "don't care" involved purely as the forums require so many mods and at least one full time employee to keep them in check. It's gone the way of the sub reddit to a degree with mods out for their own agenda or closing threads down without really bothering. There's a damn good chance your thread was reported several times by community members btw, that's the way of the forum. I'm still shocked my 600 aye commercial is still up there in the origin section.

So decided to keep my money in, its 'gone' as it where and really I do want this game to be made!

Instead, melted the Vanguard down and upgraded my Freelancer MIS to a Connie and bought back a 325a from a previous pledge; now have avenger titan, Origin 325a, Cutlass Blue and the RSI Constellation Andromeda... Still have $95USD sitting in the account to play with. Might look to upgrade the Avenger perhaps with another ship later, or purchase a rover for the Connie.

I'm only really interested in the ships that require a small number of crew, either that I can do using NPCs or friends locally, the big ships I might just run around and crew briefly but I doubt I'll ever really want to 'own' one, even in game.

Almost a year on from the infamous Kotaku article and not much has changed tbh. In terms of gaming disasters this is going to beat Duke Nukem Forever, No Man's Sky, and Day-Z by an order of magnitude!

my experience is that 95% of the mods over there are a bunch of jumped up idiots who think "mod" actually begins w/ a "g". i've had exactly the same issues, w/ one tard in particular throwing his weight around and deleting posts he obviously personally didn't agree w/.

now have avenger titan, Origin 325a, Cutlass Blue and the RSI Constellation Andromeda... S.

not a troll, genuinely curious ~ is it worth having all those ships? how much time are you going to have to invest in the game to make them all worthwhile? i got myself a Freelancer back at KS, because it seemed the best all-rounder at the time and the game pimp suggested this could be like an Elite game, w/ the trading/killing stuff. if i get to grips w/ combat as well as i did in Prophecy etc i'd be tempted to get a pure fighter, but i wouldn't want to spend real world cash on something that it might turn out i don't like doing. also, i just don't have the time to invest in runnning a combat ship to make bounty hunting worthwhile on top of a trader to make the trading worthwhile on top of a miner to make mining worthwhile....etc etc.
Flat-out don't understand the people who have spent literally thousands of real dollars on dozens of ships, no idea what they intend to do w/ them. if it was like X [i think it was the X series...] where you could allocate them missions/jobs and let them get on w/ it and reap any rewards that would be more understandable, but i don't think that's even onthe horizon...?

I genuinely backed the game with the amount I have as I really wanted something like this made, I was drawn in by the potential and the fact that Wing Commander on the Amiga was possibly my first game I bought myself back in '95ish.

So my shuffle over the weekend was a reorganising of funds, I haven't invested any more since late 2015. I was looking for some ships that I could have some fun in, once I'd decided how much to back given the potential. I really liked the 325a & the avenger as single seat versatile fighters, and the cutlass blue as I like the limited edition nature and the general cutlass story always resonated with me, finally the connie was a toss up between a few other ships and really I wanted soemthing with a decent hold. All these ships have LTI due to the early backer nature.... you're correct in that I won't fly them all (and maybe not at all depending on how the 3.0 branch evolves) and I suspect I will spend most of my time in the cutlass, I had 'credit' to spend after backing so bought stuff.

I think most that have large quantities of ships did so because they bought in to the vision of the game rather than the actual ships... The ships are just a perk of backing, although its easy to see that they are the purpose behind backing... Perhaps looking back I might not have backed so much but then maybe I still would have... This is a genre I have played to death and miss it terribly!

Will have to give this another try, bought a package early on (can't even remember what I paid for but it was "expensive" for a game). Chris Roberts has made a **** ton of money using his name and previous titles, promised the universe and delivered very little. As spectacular as it looks, I got annoyed when he started posting videos in his "office" fully kitted out with artwork and all the merchandising and crap that was developed using the money he'd collected to develop the game. I just want a game to play, not a 12" die cast model of my favourite ship and an invitation to an event I'll never attend. If it never gets finished because of all the money he's wasted I'll be furious. Although he's created a nice community of people willing to keep funding his lavish tastes with micro transactions so the well won't dry up any time soon.

I gave up playing a while back because I just didn't enjoy it (well there wasn't enough of a game to enjoy tbh), I don't follow the forums or anything religiously so excuse my ignorance if I've missed the point. Can't even remember the last time I played.

Anyone got any pointers for someone getting back into it? What should I look for/to do? (without putting any more cash in)

Refunding is a thing? How does it work?
we currently believe its an all or nothing affair, i.e. request refund and if it works out then they close your account. Presume you can seek refund based on your expectations when backed, e.g. game type, timeframe etc... Not sure if you can selectively get a refund for certain components yet.
