******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

we currently believe its an all or nothing affair, i.e. request refund and if it works out then they close your account. Presume you can seek refund based on your expectations when backed, e.g. game type, timeframe etc... Not sure if you can selectively get a refund for certain components yet.

So they do full refunds on everything you've purchased ? Meaning the game itself and the spaceships you've bought ? Where about do you request one ? Is there some kind of time limit on when you can apply for one ?

I never went for one in the end, but I think you can but they close your account in the process. You have to go through account requests I believe, not sure about time limits.

I can personally say that it's not an all or nothing affair. They along the process of my entire refund have been asking me if i want to have a partial refund and keep some of my assets in game. They have been very polite and not tried to force it on me. But have been more than happy to let me keep my account and have a large refund. +£1000

on top of that my account is from late 2012. So i would say no, there is no time limit. Mainly as the game was initially promised for 2015. They haven't held to that so i believe legally they have to provide refunds. Some may have more problems than others getting one.

They don't have to provide refunds because of the T&Cs and disclaimers on all the ship pages about this being a pledge for development etc.

They just aren't being ***** about it.

Would be interesting to know whether its a general rule or based upon your backing and when you backed? Are you able to share the reasons for the request?

I told them that real life issues arose and the money I had invested in sc would help a lot. I also told them a lot that I would certainly be buying back in and reinforced how much I like star citizen.

Holy Christ man, you spent HOW MUCH!!??? You do know it's just a PC game right? Thank God you got it refunded though!

Nothing wrong such an amount provided you know the risks & the size of your wallet - it's less than what some football supporters will get through in a single year & will arguably provide many more hours of entertainment (if it delivers what it claims it will).

£1300 on internet spaceships?? Are you crazy??

This is exactly the reason this whole star citizen thing is such a scam.

Chris Roberts and co must be laughing their asses off :(

There isn't even a finished game! And chances are there never will be.

They are taking people for a ride, makes me so mad. I won't be giving them a single penny out of principal.

:D to be fair, i know someone who spend £2500 on some rims for his car the other day i wouldn't say anything because thats his thing. Not my place to decide how his money is spent. Similarly it's not your place to be concerned with where i or anyone else spends theirs.

I am glad i got a refund, but no doubt i will end up putting a sum back in.

I still have faith, got my account free with an AMD graphics card anyway.

I still have faith myself. I just want to see my faith materialised before i get back in full time.

@harry5522

I understand you are perfectly free to choose what you spend your money on. Hell, I have wasted enough money on stupid stuff over the years.

But I do feel the Devs are taking advantage of people here.

The whole microtransactions era of gaming leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and this is just taking things to the extreme.

While a lot of us are deeply invested in sc. they are clearly good enough to hand out refunds so I don't think they are conning people, or they would be clinging onto it for dear life.

There are games with a lot worse / expensive micro transactions (though I would not consider the ships here to be micro transactions)

Train simultor is a prime suspect.

Something like £6000 to get the full package.

It's a shame as SC looks like it could be so good.

If it wasn't for the business model and lack of solid release date, I'd be very interested in it.

I'll stick with Elite Dangerous.
