******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Came home tonight and seeing that if someone wants to watch the CitizenCon 2018 streaming has to pay $20?
Wtf.

Seems couple of hours ago CIG dropped the idea....
Soz catching up after a week working at Bristol.

That that they thought about this scam, seriously present the corporate ethics and mentality

Holy **** that is absolutely ******* atrocious.

It's not exactly a world championship boxing/ufc match.

This really makes me sad as a huge fan of star citizen.

Yeah, CIG went too far with this.

Chris has now U-Turned on it completely, he did compromise earlier because of the backlash to just making parts of the stream pay for view live but its now completely trashed.

I have too say the last Citcon and for months after there was too much sponsorship pushing, IE Intel, not just during the live stream but every ATV there after had Jared plunging Intel, it was starting to get cringe worthy.

They are starting to look like they are getting desperate for money.

But CIG said it has enough money to launch the games.......

I really hope they are. Maybe that will force them to release Squadron 42.

This 'game' seems to be a parody of itself. I tried the free fly weekend just gone. I know it's an Alpha, I know this, ok, but my god - stutter, stutter, judder judder judder. And I'm running off an SSD with a 1080Ti and 5930k at 4.4 so my PC is no slouch.

I can see the potential but I just found it completely unplayable due to the poor performance. It looks nice, but by the time it gets released, if ever (years?), I strongly suspect it will look average only as graphics will have moved on significantly.

Chris you silly sausage!

How could anyone think that charging people to watch promotional material is a good idea? Especially charging those who have already "pledged" you money in good faith?

I'm glad they decided against the idea in the end, but I really worry about the direction this project has gone in.

I presume refunds are off the table these days?

What a despicable move, attempting to charge. I would seek a full refund on principle if I could.

Getting my refund is looking like one of my smarter decisions.

I don't deny there's some cool tech being worked on, but the monetization of this 'game' is an absolute travesty. It's got to the point where I hope it fails miserably and doesn't encourage any other devs to try and pull the same rubbish.

chris roberts went full on elon musk, you should never go full elon

playerbase is just cashcows not respected supporters of the project, it's a disgrace

Staff have been paid for their spaceship renders so they haven't lost. Roberts was never shy of a few bob before SC. The only losers are the backers :(
