******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I usually defend Star Citizen on Internet forums, and to my rl friends.

But I can’t defend this, ok they back tracked on it, but having the cheek to even come up with it is just awful

I like Noobifier's video on this:

This hiccup isn't going to change anything for me personally - I only care about seeing the result, ie the state of the game over the coming months/years, and will form judgement solely based on that (for example how the carrack turns out, how various exploration mechanics work and so on...). Obviously not pledging any more (haven't for ages - just sitting on what I've pledged and watching). If the game is fun as the various mechanics are implemented in the coming patches, then I'll be satisfied.

I'm now at the stage where I would like to see the finishing line, even just for sq42. I don't mean tomorrow, 2 years would be fine, then maybe another 2 for star citizen (making a total of 10?) just not "soon".

Progress has been so slow. I keep thinking that now they have this x piece of tech in, everything's going to fall into place and we are going to start progressing quickly, but it doesn't seem to happen.

It's already been 6 years I think, realisticly how much longer is reasonable? The feature creep and obsession over "fidelity" has gone too far for me. I feel like Chris has kinda lost the plot a bit.

Obviously that's just my opinion, others are entitled to their own.

latest drama has passed me by as I've dropped off following the development quite a bit recently. Do think is daft to charge though this should be one of the things sub charges cover imho. I personally wouldn't watch random Q&A sessions though talk about watching paint dry. give me the keynote only.

Quote from the Noobifier video that sums up Star Citizen for me...

"The $27,000 package makes sense as community members asked for it..."

Fools and their money are easily parted.

Would be more credible if you didn't have "Oculus Rift CV1" in your sig mate..

It's a tangible asset that works superbly for the cockpit based games I play... £350 on a new toy (that I can sell on at some point) is a bit different to $27,000 on some bytes in a game ... in my humble opinion.

^^ exactly opinion.

If adults want to buy stuff, then off they pop. I don't care what they throw their money at. I do think (in my opinion) that $27,000 is insane though.

So despite agreeing with me that $27,000 is insane you decide to have a pop at me, nice. You’ll find more people who think £350 for a Rift is good value than the kind of “deals” star citizen put out. Anyone who spends that much deserves to have more than their credibility questioned.

While I agree adults should be allowed to spend their money on whatever they want, this is just becoming pure money grabbing madness!

The concept originally sounded fantastic and I nearly took the plunge myself. The con continues though and people continue to put money into a game that exists only in their head. As the years go on the less cutting edge this looks.

Haven't got anything new to add. Although cutting edge for an MMO if it ever gets to be one is still possible. Will wait and see.

However for real cutting edge, we should all check out the latest Universal Combat :) that is the way forward. DS has really upgraded it from pre 2000 graphics (created in 2008/2009) to 2005 graphics (created in 2018). :) :)

I disagree a bit, we were talking about the game last night in its current state and we've had over the years a ton of fun testing things out. I'm not talking a few dozen hours here but hundreds of hours each. The frustrating thing isn't that there's no game but that it feels just out of reach, as they focus on other things rather than testing netcode and optimisation improvements which would have an immediate effect.

I guess that's a perspective from those who have been very deeply involved for a number of years, is not that there's no good product, it's just the neverending nature of the twists and turns as different elements arrive at different times, it's never quite getting it's ducks in a neat row.

I'm still hopeful.. but as I've been saying for a number of years now I don't recommend anyone buying in at this point, sit on that cash until there's some reviews of a released single player campaign to begin with.

On mobile so probably full of typos.

Lol, Notice how comments are disabled too ;)

Also, stop hiding and get on discord occasionally :p

the what?!?!
the huge money package you can only see in the shop if you already spent a lot of money lol.

isn't it pay to own everything in the game before the game is even released.

Not pay2win at all though...
But as chris roberts says
Zya5SRc.png

head start would be a non starter ship though not something that costs hundreds of dollars.

The games turned in to a cult, probably be another 5 years before it's finally released.

then only people who spent a fortune will bother to play because the normal people won't be able to compete with the crazy amount of pay 2 win this game has before it's even a game.

none of the big developers/publishers would get away with this

Arknor, since you like to dip in here now and then, can you explain how you can win Star Citizen should (let's just play fantasy for a moment) it actually be released?

Serious question, keep hearing it's play 2 win but not actually aware of what there is to win..
