Which is normal business practice..if you have a steady income you don't sit on your money just keep 2-3 months of reserve

The problem is doesn't have "steady income" to the point at the start of the year had to find emergency injection of money to pay the bills or else project was dead. End of last year the project run out of money and I do not say this, their published accounts do. Go see them.

The monthly bills are at 5mil on salaries alone, let alone all other expenditure. Thats $60mil per annum atm and that $40mil doesn't even cover the salaries for a year.

And because of that we see new more expensive packs and ships to be able to fund the pyramid. Because it is operating and funded as a ponzi scheme. The moment people stop buying ships, game over.

They had/have a steady average income every year for at least 4-5 years now, you can calculate with that. Funding won't stop from one day to another..in fact it's increasing.

Got the feeling you don't like SC ?
How can u like a game that is not playable?

Instead of trying to create 100 solar systems, just create 3-4 planets with a few moons and each planet being high explorable with multiple cities and 30h of missions/quests to do and a MMO-ish player count.

Also proper game mechanics please for both fliying ships and first person combat...

It is not normal business practice to spend 250 million USD on *just* development (and director perks) to get to a very limited pre-Alpha state. You'd expect to get a AAA title (or two) out the door and shipped, including marketing budget (which is usually more than the development budget) for that amount of money.

My concern is that they are in a position now where they have to keep developing the game, to keep the money rolling in, to keep developing the game. If they start fixing scope to prepare the game for release the money will dry up and given their burn rate and lack of reserves they will probably be up poo creek without a paddle very quickly, unless they use very aggressive non-cosmetic microtransactions in the game when it launches.

And again people going on about wooot 250 million is too much for a game. Yes it is..but 250 million for building up 5 studios from ground up and develop 2 AAA games is not that much compared to the cost of other AAA games.

They haven't developed 2 AAA games. They are developing 1 AAA game and 1 single-player spin-off.

So if they are developing then it doesn't cost anything? It is still 2 games and still needs resources, and in the end the money pays for them both.

I was asking Malevolence however I've watched several streams lately of people playing unless I've been watching the wrong stream or they've named the stream incorrectly

I have to ask though, If your so against it (going on your post) Why are you in a thread about if all it does is rile you up ?

I've been stung by a few early access games, SC though I don't regret despite the delay as I've had a lot of fun along the way. Problem is real life now limits my active gaming time and this game will require at least an hour to do anything in, there's little opportunity to "pick up and play" like you can with Elite: Dangerous. Then again you don't have to fly ships, I might end up being a hotdog merchant on some random planet. Everyone has to eat right? Just don't ask what they are made from.
I do wonder, would that actually work? I know it's was sarcasm but the idea of playing a space sim and not focusing on the flying aspect? Would be interesting to see how it plays out. So far they got the cave updates, but again it looks pretty bland

Because he has the brain of a mollusc.

Lets not forget the money spend on Space Marine that was cancelled after repeatedly had it's release date pushed back because they couldn't finish it. A game that was called "simple to make" and "was ready".

The moment SC is released, is going to die because anyone who could spend money on the game, has already done so and by many times over. There is a finite pool of money they can draw from. And keeping the ponzi scheme running is safer bet because some "do not want to lose their money", so they put more in.

Hence many the monetisation of even simple things, like SQ42. Which is going to be several smaller 8 hour long games and have to be bought individually to complete the story, not a big one as it was initially said.

As for the money, both games are years away and there is no money left. SQ42 dev plan released this year had 5 years worth of work to be done. And that starting in 2019!!!!!!
So good 2025 for the first game to come out.

Wrote several times. If Egosoft or Frontier had the $250mil SC had, both could have completed the game years now. Given that they work on tiny budgets, small fraction of the SC.

Please stop comparing X series with SC , apart from being in space they are too different to compare, anyone with a modicum of common sense can grasp that.
