******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

That 2nd vid especially is a prime example of why we play and what can make it such a great experience with mates.
They're not sitting there bitching about release dates or talking out of their arse with stuff like "there is no game". They're having a blast in this so called "empty tech demo".
I challenge any of the regular misery guts that pollute this thread with nothing but one sided negativity and straight up trolling to watch that and still act like they don't get it.

Yearly check-in. Still no S42 release. Given that with every passing year I become more and more disinterested in gaming, I forsee me not even bothering with it come release. Back in 2022.

Yeah let's just just have a blast in SQ42.................... oh wait

People can enjoy what they can play at the moment. But surely even the most die hard of fans must admit that the development progress is a not even a joke, it's a meme at this point.

You can enjoy a game but also be critical of it's short comings.

Oh lawd... Thank you, Captain Obvious, but you really haven't been paying attention if you think that I haven't REPEATEDLY acknowleged those shortcomings and have REPEATEDLY agreed that it's taking way longer than it should.

Here are just a few recent posts. Feel free to check further back.

Who argued that it is acceptable to have taken this long? Did I miss a post?
I think there are very few regular players that think it's totally acceptable to be 'only' this far after all this time.
Yes, it should be further along, but it is what it is and we enjoy what's there (if and when it works properly :D) and look forward to what's coming. It's as simple as that and it doesn't mean that we're blind to it's various shortcomings or don't complain about them.

That said, I don't think too many will disagree with the point that SC hs been mis-managed over the years.
All I'm saying is that despite it's up and down faults and the pace of progress, there's a lot of fun to be had - especially if you play with others, whether it's a crew or a fleet and find yourself going off the beaten path.

Dynamic events are now being connected to the new reputation system.

I said it here before but the reputation system was one of the biggest features they added over the last 12-18 months imo.

It is sort of a core tech feature the game will overal be based on.

You’ve lost the plot big time fella

100% agree.
Good example, I had a friend over yesterday who's got some interest in SC as he knows I've been following it since day 1 and wanted to see where it was now. I tried to show him on the "live" version but couldn't even spawn a ship and that was after it failed to load the first time.

I eventually showed him in PTU but it was over 25 mins of faffing about loading in/out etc before I even got to my MSR to show him the ship, by which point it was painfully obvious that the "game" is a million miles from release. I stopped recommending anyone put money into this thing years ago because of this sort of reliability issue. If I can't reliably "play" what skeleton of a game we have then I don't see how hand on heart I can recommend it to my worst enemy. never mind someone who would trust my judgement.

We've played long enough to know that it's up and down. Good days, bad days. Good patches and terrible patches etc.

Agreeing with Mike is fine, but the problem is that he's stating the obvious and arguing against an opinion he's made up in his own head because he doesn't actually read or comprehend what's actually being said in his rush to try and be clever.

When does it crash? As soon as you launch it? What does the error file says? There's a error text file inside the live folder.

Sometimes when flying, sometimes when logging out, sometimes when it likes.

Seem to have a lot of "Probably a bad setup in the CHRPARAMS" also.

Of course, I've only just installed it though.
You occasionally get a corrupt file or something from a blip in the broadband. Worth running the validation a couple of times.
If it continues, log right out and fully close the app (solves most of my issues, usually) before retrying, perhaps even restart the PC.
If there are still issues, you could either completely reinstall, or check in with their own support

It crashed so bad just now that I had to hard power off the PC! SO frustrating, I backed this in 2014 and I've always been excited about it. Now it's at a point where I WANT to play it just crashes! Grr.
Going to try signing out, then verifying for the 59080598 time then I'll reinstall. If it's still broken then maybe I'll try again when I'm 50.
