I'm sure most people have messed around and played criminal at least a few times.
I've done it to others enough, and watched it happening on chat enough, to be very wary of other players.
Here and there, but me and the guys I play with aren't on that kind of thing.
We might on a
rare occasion do something like leave someone's ship floating 20ft above the ground if they're silly enough to leave it wide open at an outpost while they're fiddling about in one of the buildings with other ships around. They soon learn to close their doors.
By 'rare', I mean once or twice.
However, the confidence trickster thing is a no-no, as we feel that it just ruins the experience for other people and leaves a bad taste in their mouth for no gain other than a cheap laugh. They then get paranoid about meeting new people in the verse and end up missing out on some good times.
I don't need their ship anyway.
I get that it's just the way life is, both in and out of a game. It's just not for me.
Genuine and well executed piracy is all cool, but ganking for lols is just lame in my book. Each to their own.
Have they changed something since 3.13?
I used to wait until they'd entered through teh main door and then go right up and follow them through it, as they were usually messing with inner doors by then, so didn't notice me.
Nothing's changed. They just haven't noticed the notification, which is kind of understandable, since we're constantly getting spammed with them for every little thing and generally ignore them.
I feel like you've confirmed the following point I made:
"If they do somehow manage to sneak past you and you miss the notification that someone has boarded, then that's on you", rather than responded to the part you quoted, which is a different situation.
What you've quoted is about closing your door the moment you enter your ship, so no random can get in, unless they're real quick and sneaky. You don't wait until you get to the cockpit.
But the problem is that you still invite them to your party, for the mission, and then they blatt you.
Sure, that's a potential issue.
We're talking about two different scenarios. The betrayed trust thing and the sneak onboard thing.
I feel that they're getting mixed in together here.
This was originally about the betrayed trust thing. Yes, it happens. Yes, it's a risk. Yes, you should be generally wary of randoms to a degree.
I'm just saying that it isn't so common that you shouldn't ever let a random in your ship. At least 8 times of 10, you'll be fine, you'll both have fun and you may even make a friend.
7-8 mil must have been about 3 weeks, playing 3-4 hours a night.
I did a lot of Claimjumper and cave missions too, though.
The Connie was the first ship I bought, but I also splashed on a Sentinel and something else, with various weapon upgrades, of course.
Cool, well done
For science, have a go at trying it now over a couple of sessions. I'd be interested to see if you can replicate that with the recent changes.
