******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Got a good run of it there, managed to clear 3 easy missions before going for a bit of an explore, ended up in a place called Lost and found. Dont know why but the area was off limits, I didnt have anything valuable so thought I'd have a nose about to see if there was any interesting loot. When I was approaching the building the auto turrets took out the ship, when I went inside I realised I had screwed up and only had a single mag, I got eliminated pretty quick and woke up in some weird place called grimhex? Proper rundown **** hole. Is this normal? I'm no criminal rating:confused:

You will have a low level crime rating now, that's where you go for petty crime, when you get out of GH jurisdiction your crime stat will pop up.

You can get rid of it by hacking a terminal, you need a decryption key which find in most bunker look boxes, then go to a security outpost, kill the guards, which will increase your crime stat, find the security console, use the key to hack in and clear you convictions.

If you have a higher rating crime stat and you get killed you go to jail.

If you have a Level 1 crime stat, they can be paid off with a fine from terminals in GrimHex. In the central area at the top of the stairs. Or you can just go do things until you die and if you go to jail, that's somewhere new to explore :D

While doing some pvp and messing around, I jumped on top of a tank which then moved while I was climbing down again. And I slowly tumbled through the tank and then the world.

Travelling to said planet to test out Clouds, will record it too via Shadowplay with the overlay if it shows up.

I dont know what i did but all my stuttering has gone lol. I tried disabling ecores and setting up affinity via a shortcut. It actually made it worse disabling E-cores. All good now though, buttery smooth!

Right got it to all work, the recording was flawless but needed to use Rivatuner and msi afterburner for the overlay instead.

As requested @humbug

Also bonus material... Complete WTF moment

60+ outside the cloud, about 50 inside, that's a 3090? Even if a 3070 is only half that its still 2X better than my GPU. Food for thought, thanks.

Oh, yeah, stand to the side of elevators, they like slapping people so keep out of reach :D

Yup thats a 3090 with the power limit around 104%, as high as it will go without flashing a different bios onto it.

I'll try it again tomorrow without the overlays and recording and see what i get, can't imagine it being much different though.

Yeah was not expecting the elevator to do that lol!!! Took my by surprise haha!

RTX 2070 Super FP32: 9.1 TFlops, 15 FPS
RTX 3090 FP32: 35.5 TFlops, 50 FPS

I'm more convinced now that Volumetric clouds are about FP32 throughput.

3.9X the FP32
15 FPS X3.9 = 58.5 FPS

RTX 3070 FP32: 20.5
2.25X FP32
2.25 X 15 = 33.7 FPS

RTX 3070Ti FP32: 21.5
2.4 X 15 = 36 FPS

I see your logic there, interesting to see what the 4090 brings then. It maybe a worthwhile upgrade if paired with a new/current gen cpu.

But it seems Ampere is more than capable at handling this game right now. How does the 6900xt fair in this?

I don't know but its only got 23.4 TFlops, i bet RDNA2 doesn't handle the clouds anything like as well as Ampere, i could be wrong, i could be way off the mark, and i'd like to be proven wrong, that will give me more options but right now the choice is clear.

The 6900xt was getting 50-60fps with clouds last time I logged in but its been a whole and I deffo won't be on till 3.17.2 drops but will try again then.

They're fixing the Titan Exit "bug". Hazzah!

As some of you know, The Avenger Titan is a great wee ship but the Exit Ship UI element takes up almost the entire left side of the cockpit. It is ridiculously easy to accidently hit at which point you'll climb out of the ship. No matter where you are.

They've not said how though so hopefully it's one of the sensible ways.

I did some more messing about with overclocking and there only overclock on the cpu that works without crashing is using Thermal Velocity Boost and using a +1 bin to get it to overclock from the max all core boost of 4.7 to 4.8ghz. Anything higher than this and the game doesn't like it, it will work for a short period of time then just crash on you. No matter the amount of upping voltages on the vcore, VID, helps at all.

If anyone in here has any advice on getting overclocks to work with this game, im all ears.
