******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I've just done a solid 3 hours, i have all this crap but it was butter smooth, absolutely no issues at all it ran beautifully.

I wouldn't worry about those. It's appears to be linked to Easy anti cheat, loads of us get them and don't get constant stutters. It also happens for other games. I've also never looked in that admin events view ever before :D

If you're running Afterburner you could monitor the card use, power draw, load etc to see if there's drops.

PerfMon with these two I think should cover the main memory issues that might show something.
Memory > Page Faults && % Committed Bytes In Use
Paging File > % Usage

I've also not used Win11, so don't know / not looked into how well SC handles it. Other demanding games that can max out the system might show if it's just SC or system wide.

I tried a few other things as mentioned before but the one that actually made the biggest difference was changing starcitizen.exe to run the program as an administrator checkbox. Stutters pretty much all disappeared now and weirdly i don't dip below 60fps anymore even in the starting area18.

I also set my paging file to my NVME game drive which has a ton of space.

So yeah... I expected bugs, I mean everywhere I read about this game it warns you about them... But damn, I just spent about 2 hours making deliveries and was returning to Area 18 to cash in all the loot I picked up along the way, decided to get out of my seat whilst in quantum drive so I could take a drink (I was in single figures thirst), after I finished drinking it bugged out and wouldnt allow me to interact with anything even after dropping the bottle, I was left watching the inevitable cruise straight down into the surface of the planet... BOOM!!! Gutted! I didnt lose that much but urgh I feel like all that time spent looting finding nice armour was wasted. Just frustrating. I've had to take a break from it.

I'm sure you all have experienced much much worse!

I wouldn't spend too much time trying to get nice stuff right now and make money, server wipe coming in a few weeks so just spend time getting use to all the game mechanics etc.

I've had a few serious bugs where it really annoyed me but i persisted and the more i play the more hooked i get lol.

:D

The Free Fly that's going on this week hasn't helped the servers but Delivery missions have caused me more problems than anything else so far I think. I started in the last Invictus Free Fly and the first 3 days were completely unplayable due to lag. Couldn't interact with anything.

But when it works. *chefs kiss*

I've just been messing with settings and getting the idea of the basic controls, seeing what I can get away with on this 3060Ti. It definitely pushes the CPU though!

Its weird on my 12700k the cpu usage is only around 60% but the gpu most of the time will be capped out at 80-99%. The gpu was pumping out some serious heat last night with the heatwave!

Never seen it so hot, it was touching nearly 58c where as normally it would sit around 44c lol!

If you're on after work, could have a game together :D.

Sounds like a plan, I don't know exactly what time yet but I should be on.

Those numbers all look good to me. I would expect the GPU to be pushed more than the CPU. SC does push hard and it seems a good indicator of where bottlenecks are in systems.

I suppose even more so at 1440p ultrawide. Can imagine at 4k the gpu would be constantly pegged at 99%, i do wonder though what fps that would net me.

Do me a favour, please, with your 3060Ti, go to MT DateCenter E20-HSG-Y, about 25K away and turn on Volumetric Clouds, Very High.

Basically replicate this, i want to know what sort of Frame Rates Ampere gets with these clouds.

Other settings: Very High, 1440P

I'm not sure what/where that is but when I'm next on I can test it for you. I'm at the ah "F1 is for mobiglass" stage, I had to look how to open the doors again

Its on Microtech, the ice planet furthest from the star, when you get there double click on it to zoom in on it and look for MT DateCenter E20-HSG-Y, jump to it, once you drop out of QT you should be about 25KM away from it, probbably a different angle from where i was but that should not matter, i just want to get a rough idea how Ampere deal with these clouds, your Raster performance is similar to my RTX 2070 Super, but your FP32 throughput is twice as high, i have a theory that matters.
Don't get too close the the Datacenter, i will shoot at you.

@Jay85 Your CPU is one of the best for this game, its better than mine but @Troezar wips the floor with both of us...

Ok I'm on Area 18 atm. Yes the CPU does get a work out, I need to adjust my fan curve as it's not that aggressive and it does warm up especially at the moment! Is that more down to a lack of optimisation than just the game design?

There is some optimisation still to be had, CIG said this, they are working their way through and adding Vulkan to it, with each patch more and more of it is ported over, about 70% of it is Vulkan so far.

There are serval games that seem to love the 96MB of L3 you have on that thing, this is one, MS Flight Sim is another, just imagine it if it ran higher than 4.4Ghz.

Windle tested it with a bunch of "odd" games, games that are perhaps not naturally well optimised, it monsters a lot of those, its a very geeky CPU in more ways than one.
