******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

It seems like they basically pulling in what would have been in for 3.19 into 3.18 now and combining a number of things that would have come later so although we only going up by 1 patch number wise we are getting two patches of content in honesty relative to previous content patches anyways. The fact they are more confidently showing off 4.0 content for 'next year' without the disclaimers as much I think honestly shows the push happening right now. The race tracks are cool and to go watch, the locations for them look pretty sweet. It would be awesome for them to make the Microtech facility where racing is have some function like it has new interior and made into like a hotel and race event sort place where you come for the weekend like you would to watch F1 or MotoGP and fill it up that way to make the location feel more alive then.

I think i agree with all of this, the interior is great, but the outside is very different to the original design, it is an early design back when they didn't have the workflow nailed down, its from a time when they designed the exterior and tried to make the interior fit, which it didn't, so it ended up a bit thrumpy, fat, yes like a penguin on its belly.

I melted my old starter pack and bought the cutter pack, also bought the Corsair which has 10 years insurance. I still really want a damned eclipse so might melt the Corsair and buy the eclipse.

Honestly don't get the hype with the Corsair, but it's usually the way whenever any new ship comes out. Everyone's gotta have it :D
Nothing wrong with it or anything, I just don't see what's so special about it other than new shiny.

@cHk4 Have you tried the Eclipse? If you haven't and are just basing the urge on it's looks, I'd rethink it :) It's a very limited ship. Rent it during the expo or something before comitting to anything.

It looks cool and quite useful for current game loops

Corsair seems cool. I like the Asymmetric design, has lots of loadout options and a useful cargo bay. I can see why others are buying it.
Meanwhile at the cheap end of the scale, I'm pondering the cutter. I upgraded my Aurora MR to a Mustang Beta a while back out of curiosity after seeing it had an interior, but don't really like that either. Whilst the cutter isn't going to be great for ship combat, it seems nice for all the other gameplay loops and is an interesting place to be - plus is only a cheap upgrade. Think when 3.18 comes out I'll be revisiting delivery missions and all the new FPS combat, so having a ship with a cargo bay that can fit a small vehicle in it along with accessible inventory will be nice.
Like the Corsair, it seems well designed, lots of detail, particularly liking the lighting and sounds of the ship.

That's the most wonderfully vague answer. You are indeed an enigma, Mr Mendoza :D

I think a strong draw for the Corsair is it has the highest pilot dps and size 2 components. So it's fast to jump around the verse and do npc bounties.
Yeah, I guess 4xS3 + 2xS2 gimballed pilot weapons along with co-pilot remote and 2 manned turrets are pretty tasty.
72 SCU cargo/vehicle space also make it versatile.

Fair enough, guys. I take it back. She ain't bad :)

I think the Titan is more useful and personally I far prefer the looks of it over the cutter. The titan's is a good bit wider though because of the wings. And it might have less hp / armour as well. But a lot more cargo space and you can get directly into the cockpit which saves so much time :) I see the appeal for the cutter though as this cheap tiny run about ship like the Pisces.

I haven't pledged yet as I've only just got a CPU that can handle it. Logged on first night of free-fly but couldn't rent due to errors so just took the Aurora for a spin. Fancy the Cutter starter though with the discount. SC in its current state seems like a nice chill place to explore.

I was interested in Elite again, but seems the sate of that is something to avoid.

Oh yeah.... i took the gimbals off, now i have 2X Goldergreens (Size 5) 2X Size 5 versions of those gatlings on the Inferno and 2X rhino's on the wings (Size 4).

I have the 4 energy weapons bound to the left mouse button and for 'if they survive long enough to get close' the two galings on the left mouse button, i press that it goes BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and the ship goes BOOOM! its a huge amount of pilot DPS.

The co-pilot has access to the usual power management and missiles but also a remote turret located on the rear of the ship, then there are two manned turrets, one on each side, fully manned its a gunboat, no other word for it, it rivals the redeemer and worries Hammerheads.

I love the look of the thing, i like the interior, 3 crew cabins + a captains cabin, dining area, the obligatory loo / shower, amour and weapons storage room in the docking airlock, a hanger / cargo area big enough to fit a Rover and A ROC with room to spare.

It also has a couple of nice little touches like an elevator for surface access and it will provide access to the roof of the ship, undercarriage lights that can be switched on and off and rear / ramp floodlights that can be operated from the ramp controls.

And true to Drake its not expensive, that being relative of course but it costs less than a Connie Andromeda, certainly less than the MSR and its much better than both.

What's not to like?

Edit: they aren't "4xS3 + 2xS2 gimballed pilot weapons" they are 4XS4 + 2XS3 gimballed, take the gimbals off you have 4XS5 and 2XS4 :)
