******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

As in some people.

We have also had an update with regards quanta and economy from a CIG dev, said they have put it on hold currently as they focus on other important mechanics and gameplay elements which the quanta system will eventually hook into.

What's your point? How is this supposed to clear this confusing statement up?

They certainly haven't been treating it as the alpha it is.

I really dislike many of the fundraising tactics used over the years, it’s partly why I backed away from putting more in.

LTI used to leverage FOMO, which these days is seen mostly in scams and crypto. CIG happily went down that route, in many ways they were trailblazers for milking FOMO.

Referral system while still in alpha, dirty horrible sales tactic that’s only gotten worse. Kids borderline pyramid system IMHO.

At the same time with a bit of effort they could have improved their websites, the new player experience, better “try it out” events at sensible times of the year.

Anyway rant over, let’s hope they are turning a corner at long last.

Its become a giant machine complete with annoying ruthless marketing people. I suppose with the success its had and still has that becomes an inevitability.

Ok, it feels a little icky sometimes but like i would say to EA consumers, if you keep buying those loot boxes its not EA at fault, its you. i just don't buy into the idea that a weakmindedness, a lack of self control is something that can be empathised with because some vested interest applies a medical term to it and then sticks its hand out for government funding.

Don't spend £20,000 on jpegs, have a think about your life.

I'm not talking about CIG, I'm talking about that people jumping into the game and complaining about broken stuff ignoring the fact its an alpha.

And after Citizen Con and the exposure they have had by the media/press and large streamers, CIG have painted a marker on their backs and have to deliver, they can't delay and drag their heels any more.

Ok, take this, the RSI Constellation,

do you know how old that is? Its 11 years old, its aged very well. Its what used to be the distinctive RSI "design Language" but its changed to this....

Because its 11 years later, each ship manufacture has its own unique design language, unlike modern cars you can tell who made it just by glancing at it. quite a lot of the ship's are quite old, and they have all changed, some of them have been redone in a different stile, The Cutlas, The Vanguard.... Because its not 2012 and they can do it better now.
The former was trying very hard to be a hero ship and I wonder whether that was just early design prototyping or a marketing tactic, but the latter seems more sensible to me assuming it's been designed with manufacturer styling and function limitation in mind. If it's still an every-job ship then it shouldn't be the best at any of those jobs, ideally.

Got to remember the first connie was the blueprint for that manufacturers style, it's just that they changed and developed the style over time, key changes to staff brought in new ideas too not just from a design and art perspective but also how they were piecing ships together. There was genuinely better ways to build the ships (ship pipeline).

Everything on the store has always stated it's subject to change, all backers must be adults so it's not as if we are being beaten up in an alleyway for our jpeg money :)

Constellation, Aurora and Freelancer were some of the earliest ships, all of them have been reworked repeatedly either at design phase post concept (where most sales are made) or even after they were in engine.

Evocati get access to Pyro tomorrow, followed by a broader number of people from Tuesday. Guess the evocati are the real guinea pigs on this one.
exciting times. Good that it is being tested now.

I dont think it will go LIVE until server meshing is ready.

So even if say for example, pyro evocadi works perfectly and is ready to release to the PU on the weekend, they wont until server meshing is in.

At least we have two sets of things that will be in testing for the next 6+ months.

i think releasing 4.0 during Invictus week next year April/May is feasible if all things go well with testing and bug fixing to get it to a place that SM and pyro is as stable as the current 3.21 is

I expect they will try and push server meshing to evocati Q1 and ship love between Q2 and Q3 because I think the replication layer is the critical link that will take more time.

You mean the other way round?

Server meshing cant be released without replication layer being seperated.

I beleive that the rep layer will be split away from the DGS and be available to test in the preview channel. That was the original idea of the preview channel when they first announced it before citcom.

once its split, test it out, everything all good, release it in 3.22(thats the aim) or 3.21.x and then also add the crash recovery tech. Once those two are added then we are ready to mesh the servers together!!!

Going to be a fun ride for sure!

Pyro is coming with the replication layer they can't do it without, their intent is to have Standon on 1 server and Pyro on another.

They world obviously need to test the transition between systems as much as they rest of the content don't want crazy crap happening like list items or duplication etc.

Only can select few wool get Pyro access next week, and the selection process is based on multiple factors not just are you a whale or mino.

Update as of an hour ago, Pyro will initially be the same as the demo from citizen con with no access to stanton at all.

I won't pay much attention to Leaks as I wanna experience it when it comes to live with my org buddies flying through the jump gates with a carrack or two!

I be interested to know what the framerates are like though if anyone can say?

I've been catching up on a few things from CitizenCon, I'm so hyped for what's to come. This game never fails to impress me whenever I fire it up & Performance currently feels great.

My dad is coming over tonight, I recall playing the original Elite with him years ago. He's going to be blow away when I do a little demo of SC for him.
