******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I loaded it up yesterday and started the tutorial.
5900x with PBO + 200 sitting 4.8 - 5 ghz. Up to 80% usage on one core, generally lots of thread usage.
3080 @ 75% power limit 1850mhz. 70-90% usage. Clearly a cpu bottleneck.
Running around on station.
40 to 80 fps. Generally around 60 @ 1440p highest setting. Facecam tracking on, didn't really lower fps but did cause that single highest thread to be pinned at 100%.
Noticeable stutters but playable.

Crashed after ~10 or 15 minutes when I got to the second area and was faffing about trying to get a plane or if a hanger. Couldn't continue tutorial from where I left off, decided I'd wait a bit longer to give it another go.

Last time I tried it on 3.18 or 3.19 it was stuck below 30fps with low cpu and gpu usage and seemed server limited. So it's got a lot better.
Although I first tried it on tri sli 480gtxs it's been soooooo long lol.
Nice. But I was on about how the fps performance is like in pyro

I mean 4.8 million people are already interested in the games game play and pace. So I doubt it will change much. It's not a game for the call of duty or fort nite zoomers, it's build by boomers for boomers. #leaveourgamealone

Pretty much this.... i'm 47 years old and kinda done with fast paced games, i just want to relax, enjoy the graphics, enjoy the theme music, just play at my own pace with the game not pushing me along, i just don't mind sitting in QT for 15 minutes, chatting with mates, listening to music or Youtube, i don't even care about the public transport system.

With that have you seen the Star Citizen demographic? Ok so not everyone at Citizencon was 40+, but quite a lot of them were.

The CoD kids would hate this, that's fine, i can still do CoD, i'm still quite good at it after enough time getting used to it again, but i find it stressy.

Besides that, IMO BF4 was the last game of its type that i enjoyed....

If anyone's interested in possibly, maybe seeing Pyro early there's details here. Although it's invite only currently and the EU times aren't great. Personally I'm happy to hold off until it's in the PU. It does mean they'll be a lot more info and images coming soon.

"We'd like to grant access to as many as possible, and if we're able to do so for all of Concierge, we will. We also may revoke access if that becomes necessary. As mentioned in my other reply, we'll be monitoring and making decisions as we go. It's important to note that we will limit total capacity, and we anticipate the number of players will exceed that capacity during peak hours. In this case, some will find they are unable to connect and may need to try again later."

Wagwan!!!

So i had the opportunity to explore Pyro last night and found it to be quite enjoyable. I didn't encounter any significant or unusual bugs that deviate from the typical LIVE/PTU experience in Stanton.

The overall ambiance and mechanics of Pyro give it more of a PTU build feel rather than a preview Evocati build that CIG warned us it would be. In my opinion, it's almost like playing a different game.

Pyro holds immense potential for diverse and engaging missions, and the star system is impressively twice the size of Stanton. The landscape has evolved beyond the boring old bunkers to include proper settlements with NPCs strolling around, reminiscent of the Pyro demo from 2021.

The space stations in Pyro are three times the size of those in Stanton, featuring FPS and other on-foot areas for exploration and various mission activities. Some areas are restricted or guarded, requiring a good reputation or payment to access. The market and galleria exude a Levski-like atmosphere.

The addition of solar flares adds an exciting dynamic. They occur randomly, affecting your ships and vision. During one such occurrence, I found myself grounded at an outpost for 5-7 minutes!!!

It's worth noting that this build encompasses all the planets, and I highly recommend giving it a try when possible. Don't wait for it to go LIVE because, in my opinion, the current build runs just as smoothly as LIVE/Stanton. I spent about three hours in-game without experiencing any disconnects, crashes, or game-breaking bugs.

If you're hesitant to try it now and prefer the surprise of experiencing it for the first time when it goes live, that's understandable. However, rest assured that, at the moment, the experience is quite stable and enjoyable at the moment which was the biggest surprise for me

If it was anything like the Manchester citcon I went to most of the audience was probably drunk by that point.
It was a t-total event so nobody drank!! Still drunk from night before (at least me and my group) 100% but yeah no people just got hyped when there cause how positive things ended up being. It was way slow at start. The starengine video most people were dead silent for it and only about 2/3rds actually watched that and then as things got more interesting it built.

Note it does not have all the planets, it has 3 out of 5 planets right now, at least that you can select to QT. However it does indeed have a solid amount in it. The reason they got more small outposts and good size stations in is that they don't have large cities like in Stanton. They do have much more in unique feeling locations though.

One thing I hope they fix is LOD pop/in etc. I know Ali mentioned briefly about it (can't remember exactly what said) but they working on solution they hope to fix game with.

Note a lot of people will not have access to Pyro, I don't even have access as a CitCon attendee ha.

I only got about 40mins in it due to work and most of that was spent exploring the station I was on but quite impressive, ran fairly well in most parts with the usual occassionaly hitching when new assets come in but saw everything from 40-120fps (my cap) at times while inside.

Not a fan of how messy that station is I was at, clean your room!

HOLY ****

Salvage - Structural
Implementing the ability to transform large chunks of metal salvaged from ships into a refinable material. This will use the grinder systems aboard salvage ships like the Vulture and Reclaimer.
