One thing about the freefly is regulars hate it :D a lot, and i mean a lot of people take advantage of the freefly event and with that the servers get absolutely smashed so everything is at its worst.

Ignoring the fact that this should not be happening, that it should just work anyway, even with smashed servers, from the perspective of people trying it out, in its current state, they are trying it out at its worst and if they can tolerate it as it is during freefly then they should be fairly happy longer term spending £45 on this currently broken mess of a ridiculous space game.

IMO always a good idea for people to dip their toes in for free at its worst before deciding to spend money on it, if its not for them, great... maybe keep an eye on it and wait for them to sort it out, no harm done.

Why people put up with it and play it? i can't explain that, and i've been playing it 10 years, its become a very different game over that time but, i play it now more than i play anything else, WAY more.

There is something about it, it has something that is completely missing from all other games, its like no other game, and i can't articulate it.... others have tried, for example...

 
Welp.... just called my Valkyrie at Area 18...... and i could see it fall through the floor of the hanger on its way to the planet core before i even got in to the lift to go to the hanger.

Here it is under my feet 537 KM under the planet surface and a bit later 650 KM

I know space is infinite but I was hoping the loading screen to start the game wouldn't be lol. Want to play tutorial.
 
May have connected to a borked server ALT+F4 and try again.
I had one last night take about 10 minutes to login then it was a mess, retried and was on for a couple of hours.

It happens occassionally, when you installed did you get a prompt for "Easy anti-cheat" ? if not you may need to verify the files to get it to reinstall (launcher - settings menu , scroll down and hit verify)
 
Ah yeah in now. Magic restart, had to do the same when I had no systems to choose from.
Don't recall the anti cheat but I installed days ago.

Edit: Had to select Euro instead of the 'best' server preset as that is what hung.

Will do for sure. Just messing about on tutorial for a bit. Tbh plays well with m+kB but I imagine joysticks more immersive.

Think the tutorial ended. Got no more tasks to do lol. I missed a lot of the stuff because the messages wouldn't scroll on the right in the little tutorial box. But that's what YouTube is for I guess and you lot :)

Weird start anyway, I am just wandering around the space station you start on (obv forgot the name already) I ask a passing stranger do you know jonneymendoza? The stranger looks frightened and runs off. I think that was odd, maybe they just have bad social anxiety. I see a few people standing on a table and ask again if they know jonneymendoza? There are audible gasps, one person takes me to the side and tells me not to speak this name out in public but doesn't elaborate. The group disperse in haste.

My Org had a wee event the other night where it was A1 bombers vs ground anti-air. That was the first time I flew the Spirit and it was great fun. Really need to be careful turning at very low altitude, with the wings being so wide. The bombing was great fun once I got used to it but the bomb reticles were a bit buggy and there were some real head scratching moments at the start.

I've been very happy with the VKB gladiators. I'd loved to have been able to try out the Virpils to see how the shape feels but the price jump was a bit much for my tastes.

I think any joystick from VKB/VIRPIL/WINGWING will provide an enjoyable experience.
I went for what I did purely down to having a UK store, stock levels and reputation. Also I really like how gaudy they are tbh lol.

All controllers do is mean you spend hours in-game trying to get them working right.

It's one of the areas CIG need to sort, been that way for years. Why I sold my VKB/warthog and went back to KB/M. Life is simpler now.

I'll get back into them at some point no doubt.
