******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

All controllers do is mean you spend hours in-game trying to get them working right.

It's one of the areas CIG need to sort, been that way for years. Why I sold my VKB/warthog and went back to KB/M. Life is simpler now.

I'll get back into them at some point no doubt.
Hours? i spent max 30mins from scratch tweaking my controls and testing it on arena commander and i only need to do that once or whenever i lose my mappings after a patch(but now i have back ups

Multiply that over the years when backups didn't always work between patches. I grew enormously bored of it.

So yes, hours.

I may only get an hour or two a week so having to mess with controls is a complete waste tbh. I loved flying with them when it worked but not really missing it much just now.

lol meant to add - PU / PTU / Evocati. Sometimes it'd be different between them too!

What does help is keeping backups of User settings and always before a main patch. Saved in the game install location. ..\StarCitizen\LIVE\USER\

You can copy the folder straight out and replace it after patches if things go wrong with keybinds. They have changed some keybinds in patches so it sometimes does require tinkering with still. eg. I used to be able to Alt+scrollwheel for zoom while in a turret. That stopped working last patch when they added a specific zoom in/out binds, which didn't work when I had 5secs to test. There is now a 'superzoom' function which is just tap Shift.

The issue I have with sticks is the same with anything, muscle memory of the controls. I grabbed one of the button templates and keep that up to date so I have a clear reference sheet I can return to if required.

Yeah I've seen tips on backing up and also some people who provide presets that you can obviously tweak. Anyway, tinkering is half the fun (for me) but totally get why one CBA if limited time.
Might not even get them for months anyway.

Might have to plug my other keyboard in to as my wireless is a ballache for function keys and a few others (70%). Do have one of those 16 button mmo nice to assist though.

I did an abandoned outpost mission last night, an NPC pirate Cutty backup landed after i killed them all, i boarded it, killed all them... other than the pilot, he was T-Posed in his seat and i couldn't kill him, so i want back to the jump seats in the back and started looting the dead bad guys, the NPC Cutty took off while i was still in it, it took me for a little ride around and then quantum jumped, about 10 seconds in to the jump it despawned and dumped me in to space about half way between Crusader and Yella. :o

I set up a transport beacon offering 75K for someone to pick me up and drop me at Seraphim, because the 75K offered was a lot higher than the usual 15K people were joking at me in the chat "yeah that's totally not a trap" i ended up pleading with people in the chat that i was genuinely lost in space, eventually out of curiosity a newer player accepted my beacon and came to get me.

Rule number one. Never trust a player who has a 'hum' in there name

Does anyone just like aimlessly flying about? Exploration was my favourite part of Elite and I hope something will be in SC but that would rely on procedurally generated planets with nothing much to them.

This feels a great "welcome to StarCitizen" this is what might happen currently. Chat also might be trolling or griefing but they might not. :D

I do at very low altitude on planets, partially to get used to flying and build muscle memory but also it's fun seeing just how low I can go at speed.

Do you always get some funds on test when you die? Just wondering what would happen if I didn't have enough money to buy a spacesuit and helmet upon respawn in me robes. Is there a way to delete items too? Got like 3 boxes of robes now :D

well the original intention from the KickStarter etc was exploring would be a huge part, they made specific Freelancer variants. was talk at one point that you could stumble across new jump points and might get the chance to name a planet/system or such like. i forget the specifics, it's been ten years or so :-/

There's always a basic flight suit and helmet available for free in the medbed when you respawn.

Must've missed that. More importantly, if I buy a drink how do I get it from my hand to my inventory? Saw nothing in keybinds that was obvious, I have a backpack.

Either 'F' look and store, or open inventory and drag/drop.

Thanks I'll try that next time. My noob mistake (though still not convinced it was me!) is I've ran into a habitat because I was doing a pickup and my helmet wasn't equipped (removed to take a drink, not sure where it went), I have 3 health now and no way I am getting out of this habitat alive :D

Edit. I relogged and I'm back in my apartment. Weird, I thought you went back to where you were.

Edit. Oh I used the niknak thing and apparently I have a helmet in the convention centre meaning I probably dropped it lol.

Silly deaths is sadly my playstyle.

Today:
1. Flew into a station after deciding to see if I could "drift" around Tressler.
2. Died trying to skim along the surface instead of landing and walking to a bounty (they shot my Pisces until it went bang).
3. Bled out during a mission as I had run out of med pens..

@MadMossy I just respawned and there is nothing in the medbed. It says external storage locker and shows 0% full.

Nearly finished a delivery mission except when I got to the drop off point, started to hear "contact, contact" so I thought another player was about to gank me and I panicked and afterburned into the floor.

Well after a lot of pointless 'ing about trying to find a small transport ship that i liked it was the Valkyrie, it was always going to be the Valkyrie! Right?

I wish i had this copper paint for it.
