******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

The definition of calamitous chaos: about 80 bored Star Citizen's with about 8 years worth of subscriber flair to dump all over the place while waiting at the Expo elevators to get in :D :eek::cry::cry::cry::cry:

There' be flying fish tanks around these here parts....

Anyone find that 3.23 doesn't look at good? There's something up with the lighting. Everything looks too bright and lacking any depth. I thought it was due to my DLSS settings, but even turned off and with everything on High/Ultra, it just looks....off. It's most apparently near a planets surface.

Is it like this for anyone else?

Yes, a lot of the planet textures are bleached or washed out.

Its has defiantly got like that over time, i think its because while the shaders have had a lot of updates the planetary textures haven't.

I said this on discord yesterday, Some of the ship details look kind of slightly better but a lot of details look weirdly... off, Couldn't put my finger on it.

Only had a short go (literally 5m) but found no change in FPS with DLSS on quality mode at least.
That was just me starting on Orison

DLSS looks decent as does CIG's own TSR but FSR looks just so so bad. I'm hoping they implement AMD's FSR 3.1 when it's ready as that is a massive upgrade.

They are using FSR 2.0, not even 2.2 which isn't a lot better but TSR while still being really bad compared with DLSS is better than the FSR they are using.

AMD needs FSR 3.1 and CIG need to use it.

I tried the DLSS, it barely made any difference. Even putting it on max performance it barely improved my framerate, but also didn't even look worse. Made me question whether it was even enabled. Tried the TSR and thought it looked pretty rough on Orison when trying it in performance modes, lots of flickering, again not much of a performance boost. Haven't tried FSR though, but guess there's no reason for me to do so with an NVidia card. Maybe Orison is just bad for testing the upscale tech.

I have the same CPU with an equivalent 'ish GPU, the CPU is the problem mate, i hate to say it but the 5800X is increasingly the bottleneck, i'm having to run the game in 4K because if i run it in 1440P the GPU has too much leg for the CPU and it all becomes very not smooth.

This game need's a Ryzen 7000 series.

No plans to upgrade quite yet, I can put up with the performance right now. It's only in landing zones I have ~30 fps or so, elsewhere it's generally 60+ which is fine for me considering it's an unfinished alpha.
Next time I'm playing I'll pay som closer attention to the load on the cpu and gpu and see how it looks.

Some of the moons, weirdly... can also be quite brutal on the GPU, i think its the volumetric fog, its incredibly unoptimised.

Anyone trued using vulcan yet

When 3.23 was in EPUT yes, it worked well on my RX 7800 XT, there may have been somewhat better performance in some scenarios, but mainly it felt smoother, more snappy to me, like lower latency.

I have not used it in 3.23 live, i might switch it back on at some point.. but i have tried it in 3.23.1 and it doesn't work.

I tried it Saturday night but kept crashing I did a clean install of windows and updated my bios not had another chance try it yet PC was crashing on a few other games aswell

I do find it odd that 3.23 worked fine while in EPTU but 3.23.1 doesn't...

I'll switch it on in 3.23 live later today and let you know how it goes, it absolutely should work as its exactly the same build that i last had Vulkan running in when it was in EPTU.

I'm already wondering if a windows update may have borked it....
