Zeus is in the building plus 4.0 evo soon?

I have a sub atomic particle of an atom of a sliver of hope we may get 4.0 this year.

I don't know about Cit-Con, more like Grift-Con.

29%, and this is after 13 years of development getting on for $1 billion dollars in revenue, even now with all this experience and money they hit less than a 1/3rd of their goals, and a lot of it is just fluff and filler, ooh look at his clothes move...woopty doo - 13 years and some clothes move...

Incredible.

:D

Just so expectations of CitCon are kept in check. Here's last years as a reminder along with how much was actually delivered.

Less than 1/3rd of proposed systems/changes are actually in game on the LIVE server as of today

I expect over promising and under delivering as per usual with 2025 getting 1/3 of what they said at this years CitCon.

This is the trouble with a studio having complete free reign.

I still think that video is not really balanced. It starts with through next year then claims about where at currently. We are still a whole quarter out. So if 4.0 drops with SM, engineering, fire, pyro. Then suddenly the number jumps significantly.

Things in now noted missing:

- The Zeus are in clearly now (at least two iut three)
- There is the new star map, mapping system, I'd it's good or not is a different issue but we did get it including fps locations.
- they have added all heads, hairstyles and more since. Some of the ones shown at CitConnwere even noted as concept and won't come to game possibly at all but we've had plenty more and got all the heads
- personal hangars and that are still in. Just the nuances and some details to refine but it isn't not in like the video suggests.
- cargo trolleys are back and they did at least try to get them in before. It not like we've never seen them.

So scanning, armour, realistic sound, QT updates, weapon wear, hygiene and movement animations are missing with no real awareness of when they coming.

FPS scanning was talked about and possibly could come with 4.0 along with some new scanning in 4.0.

So there is already more in game now as bullet points which is claimed not in. More to come before end of the year and at moment possibly 4-5 items out of everything not making it if 4.0 does drop by December. So the video is pretty disingenuous.

Some things like the QT animations and jumps is all one thing being split to suggest two fails but it all one system update and will come together. Some things like radiation will come with pyro etc so if they make it then it will too.

But that means we are at this year as in 2024 possibly getting around 50% of what was shown assuming we dont get the QT, scanning and first person movement, takedown, fps updates that make up the bulk of the unknown before the next patch drop and end of the year.

That seems pretty solid tbh considering how we normally at most get 1 or 2 things from a CitCon shown at most. They have actually given the most updates this year by feature count since 3.0 dropped.

I'm so out the loop, going to be great getting back into it when I do!

So again another year, another under performance by CIG. We can sugar coat it but that's just reality, they are still over promising and clearly unable to accurate judge their own capabilities as a studio to deliver.

Unless, SQ42 is near dropping which would explain the gap..

I dont think there is many if any studuis that can accurately judge thir capabilities to deliver stuff.

For instance GTA6 was pushed back. CP77 as well, Starfield, Enshrouded updates and heck, even AMS2 1.6 update was meant to come out in the summer.....

Game dev is hard to predict for any company and i am not giving CIG excuses or backing them.

Lets see what is said in citcom and lets see what has been delivered by Dec 20th. On Dec 21st, this is when i will personally judge them whether they have under performed and by how much

Played around a little with the cargo lift storage system and it's not bad. Few issues as expected and it did seem to like eating items at times when moving them around in boxes. Best tip would be to go buy a few 1scu containers. You can drag the container into the lift side (in the manager), double click to open and then drag things directly into them.

Zeus looks quite nice, I have a cheap ccu to the MR version to be made at some point. They really do have a problem where each new ship is such an improvement over the last that they all need full reworks.

Anyone expecting 3.24.2 tonight? :D

I expect 3.24.2 at CitCon followed by lots of over promising as per usual :D

I disagree with this.

Reason is because just like in real life, generally each new car model has lots of improvement over older ones yet manufacturer's dont go improving a 5-10 year old car. instead what CIG can do is release a mk2 ships.

Forget improving a freelancer, release a MK2 freelancer and freelancer owners can melt the mk1 and grab the mk2 and others who dont have a freelancer at all can grab a mk2 from the get go

Dont' forget some are technically MK3, Mustang for instance. Initial MK1 was too small for the player model... :D

The current problem with going down the new model / replacement route is most of the ships aren't feature complete. Basic things like the fire extinguishers layout etc. Overall though yeah I can see them doing that once we eventually get to "feature complete" with all the ships :D (Unless they want more £$¥) ;).

CitizenCon sched is out with a big chunk of Redacted, aka SQ42. 1730 - Redacted > 2100 Venue closes. They did this last year so expect the panel will finish at 6.

The tech test preview for sm last night was a bit of a mix bag.

1000 player servers were same as last time aka crashes every 5mins.

Ironically the 2000 diddnt crash but severely lag etc though.

Think they left it at 800 players now

Yeah in fairness they gave reason, they fixed up the issue that the 6:1000 had and then bumped it at same time to 10:2000. Indeed was solid lag fest but generally was still interesting to see. Certainly steps in right direction still. Theoretically if are looking at aim of 10:2000 for a single star system then possible you could have that for two star systems. But realistically having 2k players over two star systems I think would already be a solid place to be with 4.0 and seems like that would be possibly.

What was also got to be noted with test is everyone loading in at once, you don't get that in live as much. You also don't get them all in same location cause one thing noted was they have 10 servers for the 2k player test but of the ones seen there was often 300-350 players on the single server which is way over 200ish that would be how it would look with even server distribution. Dynamic meshing would actually solve that when they get there since you wouldn't overload the server like are currently. If you look at it another way you could say that 10 servers would need to support 350 players compared to the current live 100 player count we have to be able to handle the traffic a server had last night on average.

The 800 server was pretty stable, Pretty much like LIVE from the bit I had a look at.

Yea it was interesting for sure and i think they are trying to figure out what the limits of one single server can handle.

I am going to jump on hopefully before it ends to see but that is what ive heard so far!!

Exciting times
