*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Does anyone know what the Good or Bad points are for when you make a story decision. Say you're a Jedi Knight and you make a decision that gives you Bad points, what does this mean?

In games like Fable or Black & White it changes the appearance of your character but what do they do in SWtOR?

Doesn't change your appearence, but does give you access to special items from vendors. No idea how it affects the storyline.

Spoiler alert -

Confirmed in the latest (subscriber) issue, an interview with Gabe. August PC Gamer should be out on shelves within the next week.

Ill say it again.

SPOILERS

Discussing The Eternity Vault

'Gabe Amatengelo: Players drop onto the surface via pods to attempt to gain entry, first facing the automated defences, then giant droids before transitioning indoors.'

Gabe then describes the encounters by evoking memories of the original trilogy.

'There's a certain point where you've got to get your back up against the wall, while your group tries to solve a code to get a door open to progress futher. Its loosely inspired by the Battle of Endor scene where the rebels are trying to gain entry to the base.'

Later, players are asked to win duels while being watched by their teammates.

''At one point, you'll be facing the entourage of one of the uber-Force wielders [Bioware are keen to avoid saying who this is]. Everyone in the group has to pick one to fight. You have this Luke/Vader type moment where it's a one-on-one boss fight but everyone is in audience.''

Also in the article.

Confirmed, the items that dont drop for you (or dont appear in your loot bag) from boss kills can all be bought from the commendation vendor.

Confirmed (if not already) that to access new flashpoints you have to clear beginner ones.

Confirmed (if not already) there will be no pre raid armour grind. You will enter low-level raids in the armour you finished your storey in.

Confirmed (if not already) Loot bags can contain upgrades for weapons and armour.

Confirmed TORs landscapes have had a graphical overhaul. - Writer.

E-mailed game for when the pre-order codes were going out if anyone doesn't know yet:

Probably already known but just in case anyone was wondering. :)

Yup, I had read this but forgotten. Also emailed them and received the same reply. Glad I already had my preorder code on day one :) - Game can take as long as they like :p

27.5 GB (29,540,395,394 bytes)

Thats the size of this game (may change a bit but that what it was of 5 days ago) ..its never gonna be 40 GB.. see that often quoted as the size ..shows you how quick people pick up rubbish and run with it.

We recruiting as a guild got a few from OcUK .. check us out at home or the official guild site on sw.tor.

We will be a Republic guild!

Well the download was over 30Gb and a fair bit has been left out of the beta including many of the high res textures, so close to 40Gb in entirely possible.

I asked on the official forum about preorder codes and whether I needed to replace my SE code with my new CE code in my account. This is the official answer that clears up a few other things around here e.g. early access -

I have received your transmission.

To be honest, there's no point in going to the trouble of registering the new codes on the new accounts you created.

You're already in line for Headstart with your original codes, and all you'll need to do at launch to get your bonus items is to tie the deluxe edition/Collectors Edition code to the account you've been using all along.

There won't be any problem caused by your pre-order codes being for a different edition.

Please do not be concerned if when going into the 'My Account' section the edition listed there is incorrect. When you receive your product code at launch and apply this to your account this will then grant you all relevant in-game items that are associated with the version that you have purchased.

I can promise you than the information we've given you on this is the most current available, we want all our players to have the best experience possible, and the least hassle possible in registering their codes - that's why there has been a change from our original position of asking people to create new accounts to register different codes.

I hope this addresses your concerns on this front!

Greetings Humanoid,

I have received your transmission regarding your pre-order.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your pre-order question. Your first retailer is informing you that they will be deactivating the order in their data base, this does not mean that the pre-order code that you have entered on the swtor.com website will get canceled. Rest assured that this code will remain active on your account and you will still receive the crystal.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us again.

READ THIS:

A pre-order code is a pre-order code is a pre-order code. All the same thing. The different pre-order codes were made to separate the head start. That's it. Since they're not doing that any more, it doesn't matter what pre-order code you put in.

These videos will explain everything about the pre-order codes & how the early access is going down:

Fair enough pal, it's understandable that since you've been left out in the cold before you don't want to be so again.

Personally I've had more than enough of headstarts & the traumas they cause. I can't remember the last time I actually had pleasure out of one, it's just a laggy mess & a mob campfest usually. I'll still be looking forward to release, just hopefully control my urge to power through the content :)

Remember that in this case though they are controlling the number of people being let into the early start - in contrast to the usual, "everyone can log-in at the same time" approach. Hopefully this will make it better.

With the pre-order key, isn't it possible that people could try the game for free: i.e. preorder the game, obtain pre-order key, cancel pre-order, play head start, decide whether they like the game, purchase game or dont purchase game ...... ?

Or am I missing something

I believe so since there is a grace period shortly after release before you have to put in your retail key.

There will NEVER be a open beta, in September they will have a series of weekends where people are invited to play, it may even go as far as being 3 weekends of open beta

lol :p (one of my favourite quotes on here for a while)

As for the fabled story line thats about maybe at best 10% of your leveling experience the rest is the normal grind .. done even worse than wow/lotor.

10% of your levelling experience? Are you sure you are in the beta? As someone who has gotten tired of all other MMOs, I found the story a breath of fresh air - plus, with the bonus quests, a lot of the usual "grind" is achieved simply by getting to your quest objective and you rarely have to go out of your way to achieve it.

Is this on the official forums?

Only visible to the beta testers.

As someone who has very strong opinions on the beta and not favourable ones at that, I am surprised you even care about the NDA.

This tbh - he hates it so much, yet keeps playing, won't trade the account or break the NDA. I think wab enjoys it more than he is letting on.
