*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Please show me where I said I hate the game, I said its not near as good as it could have being and no different from 20 other mmo's out there... somewhere in your very closed fanboi mind you take what I say and turn it into me hating the game .. typical.

Should add I have the biggest guild in the beta right now ... well it was the last time I logged in but have not logged in for well over a week now. (I would say about 60% of the player base(republic)) is in this guild.

Well you certainly seem to dislike it based on all the comments you have posted here. Your best defense is that I am a "fanboi"? I have just disagreed with a number of your points. If you read the thread, you will see that

a) I have posted plenty of stuff from the beta - both images and user reviews from the beta forum
b) I neither love nor hate this game, have simply provided my opinion and have disagreed with some of your comments. If that makes me a "fanboi", then I guess I am one.

I agree that in no way does this game break the usual MMO mould - but I completely disagree that only "10%" of the levelling is story based.

The purpose of Squadron 840B's game testing period was not to test end game content, as such, most of the end game content was not implemented.
In addition, some of the later level zones were incomplete. Which is where most of the "Not enough quests" crying is coming from.

Why certain people find that so difficult is beyond me.

Just take a step back, breathe, and try to take this in...The game isn't finished yet.

This tbh. While I am sick of the beta excuse, this is a playtest, NOT a beta. The devs have said a number of times on the beta forum that not everything is in the playtest (yet).

ah ok, thought I couldn’t see it!

so in a nutshell everybody posting under that topic, is saying the game is ****?

It is very mixed, and has been since day one. If you look at the player reviews I posted a while back, it sums it up well - what TOR does well, it does REALLY well. Equally, what it does badly it does REALLY badly. I just hope they listen to the community - at least there doesn't seem to be a rush to get it out the door yet.

Wanna add something else, even tho to some it may seem so I have no axe to grind with sw.tor, I had and still do have high hopes for this game, need a mmo that I can call home being a while since I have had this.

I'm just stating how I found the game, people can either take it on board or ignore it, I never started this conversation to get into a on line fight about it, and only reason I used this forum is that I find most of the people on here very mature and willing to debate something and not just do the usual fanboi comments you see on the sw.tor forum dragging everything down to a slanging match.

The official forums are priceless :) - I found the beta forum much more mature, although haven't checked it out for a while now.

There are plenty of reviews that go against that too though. As far as I can see it is still a mixed bag, and has been since the start. Some of the reviews are clearly just people who were always going to love/hate it - the other reviews are mixed.

Good story line
Pretty boring for a mmo - stagnate game play.

Nothing new except thats its fully voiced where loads of other games are only partly voiced. its nice for a while but well for me became a bit of a pain in the ass.

Game feels very much like a single play RPG rather than a MMO.

I thought the game play was quite good - completely agreed that it feels like a single player RPG though with MMO components tacked on. Hopefully Bioware pull it all together by release.

I was able to skip them? (may be going crazy, but I am sure I skipped a few) - I didn't want to skip many because I thought the voiceover and story was very good. Depends on the class I guess.

I've got the CE on pre-order, but I have a mind to cancel. The impression I get from a lot of the reviews that are getting out is that the story/immersion/etc is great, the flashpoints are well designed, but the actual gameplay is nothing new.

The "50 Jedi Sage" review posted above is good example - "underwhelming talent trees" and "useless talents" are not what I want to hear a couple of months (give or take) before release. What info I've found on class abilities left me feeling ambivalent: it seems solid but very standard, no new or interesting mechanics.

I only really care about the gameplay and the community/social aspects. Atmosphere/immersion is a 'nice to have', but not that important; and I've never read the quest texts in mmos. Plus I'm not a massive fan of Bioware's previous offerings, so I'm beginning to wonder if this is just a waste of my time. Despite all of that I really would quite like to get into this. Just not sure...

This is exactly where I am sat right now. Even after playing the beta I am STILL unsure!

SWTOR will suffer just like Star Trek Online.

When it gets released they are going to be swamped with people complaining about this and that and after a couple of patches the game will be perfect.

I gave up on STO about 8 months ago and have recently got back into it and since the major updates, it's a great MMO.

Luckily, TOR is already better than STO, so it can only get better from here :)

Why do you guys call that wab a troll, first of all I hate that word, it seems a bit immature to me for people online to use stupid slang like the word "troll". Second of all, he just seems to be stating his opinions, you guys then take offence to his opinions and call him a troll? what gives?

Also I hate it when I go online and see internet geeks being all nerdy and flaming one guy...had it done to me many a time.

I really wonder why I even bothered posting sometimes coz stuff like this just annoys me.

I remember years ago I could be bothered to argue with people but now I've lost all interest in arguing with people online because most of the time those arguments wouldn't happen if you were face to face...simply because a lot is miss-interpreted online in text format and you dont get a gist for if someone is sorted or not and their mentality or sense of humour.

This ^^

Someone complained to Bioware?

That's lame =/

Yep, there is someone around here complaining to Bioware about people, so careful what you post.

I've decided to cancel my pre-order.

Skyrim, BF3, and Rage are all being released around the same time so I'll probably be too busy playing them instead. I hope this game is a success though.

I am hovering over the cancel button. More than likely will by the time we even get a release date.
