Hodgson's quotes get more revealing and confirm all of our suspicions by the day:

Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Surely we're going to sign at least 1 left back, but the 3-5-2 is something I've thougt we should have looked at last season.

I think you're misintepreting what has been said to be honest. If you watch the video, Hodgson basically says that they would need to ask Purslow about how any deals are going, because he's away with the team and managing them, not dealing with transfers currently. Not that Purslow is selecting the targets and buying and selling as he pleases.

That's how I'd normally interpret those quotes but with what's gone on, it's hard not to be suspicious.

As I said in another post; Hodgson said he didn't want to lose any players until new players are brought in, yet we've sold Benayoun and are close to selling both Riera and Insua.

Purslow also claimed (prior to Hodgson's appointment) that no players would be sold without the say so of a new manager, yet we know that negotiations for Benayoun and Insua's sale began before Hodgson got the job. It's also widely reported that Purslow held talks with Real last season over possibly signing VDV without Rafa knowing.

God knows how Purslow, who was appointed (directly or indirectly) by the banks with the sole purpose of finding investment, has got himself in a position where he's running the football side of the club.

Eduardo is leaving Arsenal apparently and going to Shakhtar Donetsk

7 Million Euros apparently so i guess it's a good deal. Sadly he's never looked like the same player since his leg break against Birmingham so I'm semi-glad he's gone, we need to cut some of the highly paid under-performers!

Loving this Liverpool stuff :D

So how much time has this Purslow spent in the game to give him a better understanding than Hodgson?

Everton have rejected a £14m bid from Arsenal for central defender Phil Jagielka, and the Gunners are now poised to make an improved £16m offer for the England international.

Seems a lot for an average centre back who's nearly 28?

Wouldnt call him average tbh...everytime ive seen him play he looks decent enough and we do need a decent CB as it is...£16mill seems about right for him but i have a feeling Everton will try and get more money out of him before selling him.
