it depends if those replacements start to step up really. they need to justify their inclusion. I'm pretty confident about the wingers but the centre of midfield... we'll see.
 
I'm glad if Arsenal have resigned Campbell, means they're not going to sign anyone decent. :p
 
5 goals from 14 starts is one thing - but when the opposition walk through the midfield and Utd have to rely on the back 5 to stop the opposing team from scoring because Gibson cant do much else, Im not sure its worth it to the team (especially given Rio's and Vidic's past season with injuries)

Not only that he practically always shoots when he has the ball rather than looking for better options (and usually the shot is wide or high or both), hopefully this season is a watershed for him, because the team cant carry him for much longer imo

Thats ok as far as it goes - unfortunately neither are available each week, and the most settled any team is the more successful it is - constant change doesnt help anyone (apart from the opposition lol) imo

Sunderland have signed Bramble, as a Newcastle fan I really hope he plays loads and gives them the same level of suffering that we had to endure for years :p its almost as good as us actually signing a player :D

Actually I'm the reverse. Scholes played ok last season (although he did have a few games where he gave the ball away too much) Giggs on the other hand started really well but was down right embarrassing in the second half.

TBH neither of them should be starting now. It's great having their experience around for certain matches and in the dressing room but others should be first choice.

I must have missed the games that scholes did well then. Didnt see him often to be honest but when I did he looked bad.

And th few games I saw of Giggs he did well. Must have been that streak where he had a good run of games.

incredibly marginal if you ask me - I think Giggs had a much higher assist than Scholes , just didnt score as many himself

edit actually they scored exactly the same (and Giggs played around 500mins less -2600 vs 2100 approx from what Ive read)

Poppycock, Lampard is perfectly adequate at tackling for an attacking midfielder (remember he has the likes of Makelele/Essien/Mikel to do his dirty work). I remember watching Chelsea in Europe quite a while back (2004 ish) and was really impressed with his tackling back and ball winning (Veron was at Chelsea then so he needed to put his boot in a bit).

I'd also disagree that he is wasteful in possession, last season he scored 22 goals and had 17 assists in the league alone. According to Opta stats by late April he also created more goalscoring chances than any player in the entire league (109). I can't remember anyone being that effective since Thierry Henry. 109 goalscoring chances with several games still left for someone who is wasteful in possession, jesus christ, imagine how devastating he will be when he learns how to pass!!

I have a bad feeling that that's all the transfer news on the Arsenal front, a recently promoted league 1 defender from France and a a decent striker on a free from Bordeaux. I'm not too fussed if we don't sign a new keeper but 2 CBs are a must! A goalkeeper is a very welcome addition but a CB and DM are more important at the moment imo. After watching the pre-season games it looks like nothings changed. We're strong on the attack (although we occasionally pass it around outside their area) but easily exploited in defence. Latest rumours have us linked with a £10mil bid for Mertesacker. *sigh* we're meant to be a big 4 team!!!!
