Still quite slow and Wenger doesn't like slow defenders at all

He's not that slow, he just looks it. If Arsenal were going to get him, it would have been last season anyway. After getting to the Europa League final it has probably put his value up. I imagine if you had Vermaelen and Hangeland playing together it would even up his 'slowness' with Vermaelen anyway.

Fair play you watch him more than I do so I could be wrong, just think he looks a little slow on the turn and Arsenal of the last few years have played a very high line and so Wenger has bought really quick defenders in the last few seasons who can turn and sprint well (not that it has helped much :p)

I think Hangeland is better suited to a team like Fulham who are happier to sit a little deeper and soak up pressure, as when he has his back to the wall he's excellent, but that hardly happens at Arsenal (unless Barca are in town) so arguably he won't get to show his best (standing there and smashing everything away with ease)

Just read on Sky Sports News that David Sullivan said he promises not to sell Scott Parker at any price. He said too many owners in the past sold the best players.

Let's hope this is true!:D

I somewhat agree. Although I still believe the reason Hangeland looks a lot better (he's good, of course) is because of Hughes next to him. He's by far our best defender.

Still not liking having no manager, missing out on signings :(. Fulham could do with probably 3-4 players possibly, a longer term replacement for Murphy, another left back, possibly another centre back and a striker.

Silvestre? Campbell? Senderos?

Don't think Wenger intended for any of them to really play besides the odd game though. Gallas, Verm, Kos and to an extent Toure have all been especially quick for defenders. Besides, I saw Campbell out sprint Bale ;) and while Silvestre is constantly out of position he's hardly slow

Glad Sullivan has come out and said Parker isn't going anywhere. :)

I'm shocked that Spurs actually tried to sign him and knowing them for a cheap price too!!

I'd like Parker at Spurs, would add some steel. It's not that we are desperate for CMs but he'd be a great signings who'd get 30+ appearances. He's a Spurs supporter as well IIRC, with probably the last few years at the top, he'd be more than up for the move.

How about we'll take Parker, you can have Jenas, Hutton and maybe Keane? :p

Parker to me doesn't make sense, I doubt he'd get in ahead of Palacios and I would presume Modric will occupy the other space in the midfield

Arry getting as desperate for signings as us united fans maybe? :p

Sadly the days of having speed merchants like Cygan and Senderos at the back are gone :(

Not sure why Sol Campbell was brought into the discussion though. He was officially the 2nd fastest player in the Premiership a couple of years ago (leaving the likes of Lennon and Agbonlahor trailing in his wake). And I'm not kidding either.

Luke Young deal seems all but done. Spending £2.5 million on a 31 year old when we're skint, have a fantastic young player in Kelly as backup to Johnson and desperately need a left back makes absolutely no sense. Be interesting to see who Inter target should Real sign Maicon.
