The more I think about the deal, the more it makes sense (providing he's just cover).

Kelly's not a natural RB and in an ideal world we'd sign somebody as cover for Johnson, as well as 2 LB's. We're not in a position where we can sign 3 fullbacks though, so Young's versatility would mean we only now need to sign a LB and we're more or less sorted at the back.

Also Kyrgiakos is likely to be sold and Ayala's possibly going out on loan so Kelly could get his chance at CB.

edit: Just reading that Young has now joined up with the Villa squad in Portugal so maybe any deal isn't as close as first thought.

Also there's a small rumour going around that Aurelio has now decided to accept a pay as you play deal to re-join us. Great news if it's true, he's a cracking LB when he's fit.

If Insua stays...would it make a better deal with Young covering both sides? Would you be prepared to have Insua as first choice? Also Aurelio was who we were linked with to sign this season with Hodgson - that could make sense.

Johnson and Young RB, Insua and Aurelio (+Young) LB wouldn't be too bad.

However Insua's not been included in our squad for the Europa League game tomorrow which means it's likely he's leaving (Fiorentina or wherever) and as above, Young's move doesn't seem so close anymore.
 
Still no new CBs for Arsenal :(

Although Wenger has said that Fab is staying I would still like him to come out and say that he is happy to stay. At least we get him for another season and then Ramsey, Nasri or Wiltshere might be ready to step up in his place.

Yeah its getting desperately close now. I cant remember the last time we went into a season needing this amount of players though.

Usually its we could do with another CB. But I trust Wenger. Isnt that younger defender being used a few times in the pre seasons? Novedt? Or something like that? Supposed to be very proimising but still young.
 
Håvard Nordtveit is decent but not starting XI material. The only reason we need this many players is because of Wengers neglect in the transfer market over the past few years.

L Young to Liverpool has as of this second fallen through at the last second.

An ITK on some Villa forum says that he refused a wage drop from his current 60k a week.

Likewise, my source within the club says Figueroa has passed a medical and will be announced probably Friday once RH is back.
