Sounds like he thought he could hold onto the team's best players and try to push on, but Milner will be sold. I doubt any team would turn down £25-30M for him tbh.

Quite sad really. Oh well, one day clubs will realise that the manager needs to be in control of certain aspects of the team.

He seems to have resigned himself to the fact that Milner was going though, I can only think that he's been told he can't use the money for new players.

Poulsen's reportedly been excused from Denmark's friendly so that he can complete his move to Liverpool :/

Or Young has told him he wants out too.

I don't. The whole transfer's a complete ****ing joke. We're broke yet we're trying to buy an awful 30 year old for £6 million. No way would we be spending that kind of money if he hadn't been earmarked as a first team player which means Lucas loses out.

A few years ago we were getting linked with the likes of Silva, Villa and Alves and now it's Poulsen, Konchesky and Young :(

Would you? It looks like Gerrard will be playing in one of the two midfield spots so that leaves Lucas and Poulsen fighting for the other. That doesn't even take in to account Aquilani. Why spend the amount that's being reported on a squad player when we're more in need of players for other positions? The fact that someone's been trying to flog Lucas to just about every Italian team says it all for me.

It's clear that Purlsow and Hodgson have differing views on some players though (Insua for example). Hodgson's spoke highly of Lucas and gave him the armband when Gerrard's not been in the side.

Although Gerrard's likely to play CM mainly, we're still likely to need another CM if and when Masch leaves. If Lucas were to get injured then we'd have no other player that could play the holding role and ~£5m isn't that much.

I hope I'm right because Poulsen isn't good enough to be starting week in week out, he's a reasonable squad player but nothing more.

Newcastle one step closer to geting Arfa??
If it happens I be over the moon in geting such a young talanted player such as this

"The supporters of Marseille have always been behind me and I appreciate them very much – I thank them.

"The Premier League, for me, is one of those elite championships, like Italy, Spain or Germany."

Aye Crouch is such a Gentleman :/

If I was half as good as Xavi, I would be an arrogant ****.

I don't wish to cast undue aspertions about the lady but she may have relatively low standards regarding what constitutes a gentleman...

And don't sell yourself short, I'm sure there's plenty of people who'd say you're an arrogant ****. They can recognise talent. :p

Martin O'Neill has resigned!

I bet it's over the probable Milner transfer.

I was rather surprised to see this today but thinking about it O'Neill does like to leave on his own terms so if he feels that he isn't getting either the respect or backing he needs then I can understand why he resigned.

I am indeed an arrogant ****, I'm just not quite as good as Xavi, Iniesta yeah fo sho.

Hughes quoted as saying that Santa Cruz's wages will be too high for us to go for him, thank god.

Still links with Bellamy though (imagine 'cos hes older the wages might drop). Also hints at Shay Given too .

Mike Kelly (our assistant/goal keeping coach) has followed Hodgson to Liverpool too.
