drogba comes back and clears most corners and free kicks, he is actually one of the reasons why chelsea are so good at defending. he is so powerful in the air and athletic that he makes a huge defensive impact.

rooney is overated simple as.

I dont think he is the best player in the world, but he's a damn good striker and great all round player.

Which is what makes him good, I dont see Drogba doing what he does nearly as often defensively.

The problem is he is being judged more harshly now because of his recent form which hasn't been good, which is down to that injury he picked up.

torres and van persie and drogba were all injured during the world cup. drogba was playing in a poor side but still performed well for the team. torres and van persie also both had very good world cups even though they were both injured. persie needed injections before each game and torres had just had an operation a few weeks before hand. drogba had to play with a cast.

he just isnt as good as hes made out to be. as i said 1 great season and now hes rated above most, he has to prove himself again this season.

Torres was absolute dog **** at the World Cup

He was so off form he was dropped.

he still played 5 times better than rooney though overall.

he was poor in his first few games, but his form became better towards the end. his pace was completely different in the first and last games he played. he got considerably better the more the tournament went on.

No, he was dropped as the tournament went on, he stopped starting games.

He wasn't fit and was off form, he was utterly ****, woeful or however you'd like to put it, much like Rooney, England aren't blessed with having many World Class players so replacing Rooney isn't as easy.

Seriously Psycho Sonny your arse must be in some constant state of jealously at the amount of **** that comes out of your mouth.

You mean you can't name 20 strikers :o

i'll add to the above list which already has 10 players in it

fabiano, robhino, neymar, messi, aguero, llorente, ibrahimovich, Muller, Klose, anelka

zlatan in his 1 season with barcelona 41 apps, 21 goals and 10 assists ( he gets slated for being overated, but his record speaks for itself, he didnt get on with the manager so thats why he has been loaned out)

rooney has only had 1 great season, he needs another few under his belt before he can compare with the likes of

villa, etoo, milito, forlan, higuain, drogba, ronaldo, torres and co.

even tevez managed 29 goals in 40 games last season. pato is 21 and he has a better scoring record than rooney.

for me rooney is no better then van persie, he is overated due to him being english and playing for manchester united. just look at torres, he has been pretty much crippled with injuries and playing in a much worse team yet he outscores rooney in the goals to game ratio.

as for all the work he does off the ball, so do others, drogba defends more than what rooney does.

You can take your scoring records in isolation if you so desire but I would take Rooney above a good handful of the names you have quoted. Comparing Rooney to Torres is like comparing Andy Cole to Peter Beardsley. Football is a team game and Rooney brings more to the team than his goals alone.

As Roy Keane once said, Eric Cantona was always forgiven in the dressing room for what he gave going forward because he did nothing coming back. He infuriated the likes of Pallister and Bruce but for big parts of the game but he then showed minutes of pure genius and brilliance. That's why you build a team to compliment the individual skill set.

Luis Fabiano is touching 30 and has years of experience on Rooney
Robhinio - Sorry Stopped taking you seriously when you brought that name up
Messi - No arguing there.
