Does anyone know how many of Milners goals were penaltys, because thinking back I was sure he scored loads of penalties this year, but with only 7 goals I can't imagine him having scored 4-5 penalties, maybe he scored a few penalties in cup games that I'm remembering?

Funny how penalties aren't used in a negative way when you're talking about your love child Lamaprd like they are when your talking about Rooney & Milner

Its funny, people were complaining but not to badly when Real spent what they did, arguably Barca would be spending less on Villa, Cesc and Torres, but people hate it more, because they actually rate Barca, no one rated the older Real team to start with though. Really people thought Real were just getting back up to the level we all really expect them to be at, where as with the current Barca team adding the same amount of top class players just seems ridiculous because if the "best" team improve that much, no one else stands a chance.

There will be movement out of Barca though, and it would look like non spanish players being moved out. Is it a Guardiola thing, anyone non Spanish has been almost dropped this year, Henry, Yaya, Marquez. Won't be surprised to see 2 of those, if not all, leave Barca this summer.

But Torres + Villa + Messi + Xavi + Iniesta + Cesc, with that lot in a 4-3-3 setup, 3 are going to be played in their non favoured position so I can't really see it happening. Cesc yes, Torres to play second string to Villa, can't see it, can't see Xavi/Cesc/iniesta working in a 4-4-2, can't see Torres going there, even with Ibra gone he won't be first choice.

 Barca already play 4-3-3 with Pedro, Messi, and either Bojan or Ibra at the front, and then a midfield of Xavi, Busquets, and Keita (though that would normally be Iniesta). Barca don't use 4-4-2 simply because it wouldn't suit Messi, and their attack flows better with 3 at the front, so I don't see a problem playing Fabregas, Xavi and Iniesta in the same midfield. Then they could play Messi, Villa and Torres up front. This is all hypothetical though because I think it is highly unlikely they will get both Fabregas and Torres, maybe one or the other though.

Not to mention that starting with those 6 in midfield/up-front would only be feasible on Pro-Evo... One of Barca's midfield pretty much has to be a holding player (usually Busquets) for their system to have any semblance of balance. I mean to accomodate Fabregas as it is, they would have to push Iniesta further forwards into the role he quite often plays for Spain.

Barcelona will just rotate, they won't try and force their best possible XI on the pitch at all times. All it means is they have world class players to back up their world class players in a few positions, which is a fantastic luxury that very few clubs have. They do get a couple of injuries per year, so there won't be many problems imo.

They wont have Fabregas so that frees up a place :p

Cesc Fabregas could rejoin Barcelona before the weekend after agreeing basic contract terms with the Catalan club according to reports in the Guardian this evening.

The Spain midfielder has told Arsene Wenger that he wants to return to the Camp Nou after six seasons in the Premier League and the La Liga champions appear confident of sealing the deal ahead of next month's World Cup.

The Catalan giants are reported to have initially offered £30m for the 23-year-old but Arsenal will accept nothing less than £40m for their star player and Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made it clear that he is willing to break the bank to complete the transfer.

The Guardian claims that Fabregas has already hammered out an agreement over wages and the length of contract with his former club. Yaya Toure could be used as a part exchange in the deal although his agent, Dimitri Seluk, insists that the Ivory Coast midfielder will not be moving to Arsenal.

James Milner is content to put his club future on hold until after the World Cup but admits he does not know if he will still be at Aston Villa next season.

The England midfielder was yesterday the subject of a £20m bid from Manchester City, which was rejected out of hand by Villa.

Milner has two years remaining of his current deal at Villa Park and is due to hold talks over a new contract but is adamant his priority is helping Fabio Capello's side in South Africa – assuming he is part of the final 23-man squad.

"Do I expect to be at Villa next season? I don't know," Milner said. "I've worked as hard as I can and concentrated on club football while the season has been on.

"Now it has finished, I'm focusing on England – and that's the only thing I am focusing on.

"The season finished at Villa a week and a bit ago and we all said we would discuss it [my future] after the World Cup.

"I've enjoyed my time at Aston Villa, it's a good club, we've had a lot of success this season, came close in two competitions, and we are moving forward."

Capello recently described Milner as "the future" for England and he has made great strides this season at Villa after being switched into a central midfield role by his club manager, Martin O'Neill.

The PFA Young Player of the Year believes he could also adapt to a deeper-lying role with England if Gareth Barry is ruled out through injury.

"Whether there is a role for me in place of Gareth is down to the manager. If he asks me to play there, I'll be prepared to play there," Milner said.

He's off then ;)

Would love to have aguero. Saw him against fullham I think and he turned them inside out. If he could shoot he would be deadly ;)

Milner deserves the hype, more than Walcott did, Milner is a much more complete player.

He has been good for a few year now. Obviously had his best form this season just gone.

Be a big loss for Aston Villa

Lol, I hope that was a joke...

Barcelona’s ‘stratospheric’ debt could wreck their hopes of landing Cesc Fabregas this summer.

Presidential candidate Sandro Rosell, has warned the Catalan club that they must balance the books if they want to continue their £40million pursuit of the Arsenal captain.

“We must be careful, because from an economic standpoint we are not good,” said Rosell.

“We have a stratospheric level of debt. £420million over what needs to be paid for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dmytro Chygrynskiy.

“We must improve the squad each year, but we must also make sure that we are managing the economic resources that the club needs to survive.”

The Swedish striker, and defender Chygrynskiy cost Barca close to £70million last summer, and both have failed to make a sufficient impact at the Nou Camp, meaning that they could be shipped out for a as little as half of what the club paid for them.

Rosell also went on to express his doubts over the £35million fee that the Spanish champions paid for David Villa.

“From a sporting point of view it is a very good signing, but from an economic one we maybe needed a little more information.

“Maybe there were other options available, for the cost and salary, so we lacked the right information to know whether the €50million price was a fair one.

“If we add Cesc as well for €50, that increases our debt by another €100million,” bemoaned Rosell.

Gooner14, I very much doubt that's true to be honest, seeing as they have a tv deal in place worth nearly 1 billion euros, and the following from the Barca website states that total club debt at the start of the 2008-2009 season stood at 13.6 million euros, and was due to be written off in October 2008:

In relation to the accounts, the financial vice-president wanted to point out two things: the reduction of debts, both bank and in general, and an increase in the club’s own funds. On the first point, Boix revealed that during last season FC Barcelona paid back 26 million euro, reducing the debt from 39.8 million to 13.6 million and that “the bank debt will be wiped clear on 30 October”.

I don't see where they would have got 400 million euros of debt from all of a sudden, and the mirror football and a prospective chairman are hardly the most creditable sources....

Barca's debt seems to be a source of much confusion; some people stating they have next to none, others stating they are well in the red.... anyone actually know?
