*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

I did update mine yesterday to it and I also noticed it had some camera firmware updates.

I’ve not seen any issues yet.

Would a cloud gateway/ultra be ok just running as a wifi controller with no direct access to the internet router? Reason I ask is at our practices we have broadband installed by a specialist software company that provide a preconfigured vpn router. We can't use our own router and configure it to connect to their vpn.

We're wiring and then wifi-ing up the buildings, and I was hoping to install unifi switches/APs, but I want to be able to run them from site manager as they're disparate sites as well. Just wondering if it might have any configuration problems not being in charge of the routing. I've had a cloudkey running for years not as a router so I don't think there would be a problem but thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone can think of any pitfalls.

Essentially:

Internet > Third party vpn router [we have no access to] > ethernet > cloud gateway ultra > unifi APs.

The onvif update just isn't going to cut it for a lot of people. Lack of notifications and no tagging motion events in the timeline make it pretty useless. I doubt its going to drive their camera sales any more. I wish they'd accept that they just don't make good enough cameras at a reasonable price point, and open it up properly. The interface of Protect is very nice.

If the onvif worked properly with notifications, etc then Ubiquiti would get a sale from me as I’ll upgrade to suitable platform from my UDM. I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking this so Ubiquiti are missing out

Use a cloud key, it’s not a router, it’s just the controller software running on a little box.

If this is across multiple sites then paying Ubiquiti to host it might be the simplest option

I happen to have one spare as well so might as well do that, aye. I was just thinking the cloud gateway with the integrated access point might be pretty good for what we're wanting to achieve.

Can you add a cloudkey into site manager? Edit: yes you can. They're more expensive than unifi express though, and thats got a wap built in. So might get 3 of those to run the unifi APs off and just disable the routing. Thats an option.

I have 2 AC HD that were in mesh mode. I had to add an old AC pro that was lying around to get coverage into the cellar at the restaurant for the alarm panel.
Dont know how. But i think the alarm guy may have wired up the HD and the PRO both the their secondary ports as my non wired HD is now in isolated mode and aparently meshing off a AC pro (which can't Mesh). We've messed around with it so its different now. But the only way to get the alarm to see the internet was to wire the AC pro back to the old netgear router connected to old copper that we were about to cancel.

Before today the AC HD was talking to the other HD that we have in the building above (basement is in old victorian toilets with 17inches of concrete and no way to hard wire hence mesh, but we have a glass floor which the signal can get through) this has worked for 12 months or more since setting it up but after the alarm guy was doing his thing today its all gone wrong.

Any ideas. We are Cloud Hosted via BBuyer.

Pav map

Pavilion AP is the main wired AC HD
Rincon AP is the basement AC HD
Pavilion alarm AP is the AC pro which is now on a separate internet just to get the alarm working

Has anyone found a table/chest of drawers/storage unit that you can fit the UniFi Rack under? I've moved my main rack into the garage, and I fancy the hideously expensive UniFi rack for the small cupboard where the internet terminates to house a switch, patch panel, NVR, UDM-SE etc. I can't put up decent shelves as the left hand partition wall is thin chipboard and not plasterboard.
