Interesting, and this is definitely a Lite 8 PoE? Might try ordering from BB and see what I get.
Yeap it is. I also got cloud gateway max from them which is UK version.

Also got flex mini 2.5gb coming, not sure what version that will be. Was meant to come on Friday but DPD has lost the package so waiting for BB to sort that out.

Cheers, have ordered one, let's see what I get :)

I don't believe there's any real demand for Ubiquiti to provide a NAS (there are no doubt people who buy whatever they make, or start their search for a product by checking if Ubiquiti make one first, but I think they're wrong) and the fact it's an NVR Pro repurposed with a paltry offering of network interfaces suggests they're not putting too much into it either. Presumably it's still a quad-core ARM box with not much RAM. This feels like when they started making LED lights.

It's cheap for a 7(???) bay device but that's one of few positives.

Returning to this, as I said my Lite 8 switches, directly from Ubiquiti, both have a power brick with integrated two-pin EU plug.

I continued to query Broadband Buyer and they eventually said that they supply a "compatible" power supply with a UK plug (not clear if integrated or not).

Are you absolutely sure you have genuine Ubiquiti power bricks with a separate cable and not a third-party one?

As I thought, might be getting on a bit but not quite there yet, the 8 Lite, I bought from Broadbandbuyer, came with the genuine Ubiquiti power brick and they stuck a UK plugged power lead in the box.

Technically it's illegal to sell a device in the U.K without a means to plug it into a U.K outlet.

Your not wrong but also it’s not really a product aimed at those which are willing or wanting to build up their own NAS.

If all you need is network storage and a consumer friendly interface to manage data and user access, this is a viable option at a sensible price.

However if you are someone who is selling IT solutions into small businesses, this could be the right box for the job. Particularly for the kind of customer who sees tech infrastructure as a burden rather than a useful tool. Likewise as the solutions seller, you don’t want to have to support anything more complex with tiny tin pot customers that don’t want to pay you for your time.

You could even sell it as a redundant option, one of these on the office, one in their house and boom you have a mirrored off site storage for under £1000 plus drives and no one going subscription.

Yeah the whole point of the Flex switches is to be PoE powered tbh, I have two of the regular ones.
It's so handy, just plonk them anywhere, I have one running a camera and pc connection just powered from the dream machine.
It's not just that it's powered by Poe the fact it can then power other Poe devices.

The Flex switches don't have onward PoE to power downstream devices.

I have one in the lounge and one in the bedroom.

Luckily, the wall where the TV is in the lounge backs onto the garage and all my core network kit and server happens to be just the other side of the wall.
When I redid the lounge last year I re-routed the Sky cable through the garage too and now I just have a modular wall plate with two 25mm modules, one is a dual F-type for the Sky feed and the other an RJ45 which goes into a PoE switch in the garage. Then I just hang a Flex off that to connect the TV, Sky, Shield and receiver with no additional power bricks.

Depends on the model of Flex, some do, I have an older one here on my desk that is powered by PoE and I use for prepping PoE CCTV units.

Its a USW-Flex, five port PoE with VLAN support.
Yep same as mine I think Poe+ input gives 20w budget so powers a G5 turret camera with ease.
Poe++ gives 46w.
Super handy switches.

They certainly are, if I recall they marketed with a pic showing a couple cams and an ap on a pole with a single cat5 running it all, they have a magnetic back and come with various mounting options :)

I like the UNAS-Pro but it's a bit pricey. Name suggests there will be a UNAS-? that could be cheaper? Not sure what features I'd elect to remove though.. Less bays gives less options for redundancy and there's not a lot of connectivity to start with.

ZFS support would be nice too.

It's not really, it's very well priced for what it is.
I thought that as well, especially given the number of drivers.
I'd want app support though and a much faster processor I use Plex so much. I wonder if making a dedicated Plex server would be worth while and not silly power.
