On a more serious note, for anyone who's interested in this "Summer Madness" event, and specifically the current 'Will to win' challenges, here's my thoughts and what I've found so far.
I think Gaijin seem to be trying to encourage people to perform well in War Thunder in return for rewards, it's just that they're going about it a really, really poor and frustrating way. As many have already pointed out, for an average player to get 40 victories at the top of the team, it takes more hours than exist in a week by a factor of about 6!
However, people are sidlining the "Hunters luck" challenges, possibly because the rewards for these appear to be only Silver Lions, when in fact they also put you into a 'lucky chance' of winning premium planes.
Now, anyone who knows computers knows that computers don't deal in luck, they deal in algorithms and maths. Random is very hard to reproduce, so everything must have some kind of system involved.
Now, here's where it gets a little more complicated. Gaijin aren't going to lose face by changing the event that they've dreamed up, no matter how much people whinge on their official forums.
However, several people on the forum seem to be getting a premium plane reward for the 'Hunters luck' task - which is getting 10 battle wins using a certain tier planes, and being in the top 3 players. (much more achievable for the l33t of OcUK)
What I think they're doing instead of making you grind 40 wins is giving away premium planes in the 'Hunters luck', and they're either giving away:
a) Loads of planes, in the hope that people *AIM* to get the stupid 40 victories, but are pleasantly surprised when after 10 victories with planes of a certain tier, they get rewarded with the premium plane they were wanting. (Terribly psychology I know, but hey, in Soviet Russia, game plays you!)
b) Premium planes on a 1st come, 1st served basis. Gaijin haven't said how many premium planes they're giving away as far as I can tell, but if you leave your last victories until Sunday night, you might end up with nothing but Silver Lions. (it's much easier to code a system which gives the first 500 people a reward, than it is to do a random 'luck' generator.)
So, I won my Premium Spitfire

My personal guess is that you're more likely to get the premium plane rewards for doing the tier 3 challenge than tier 2, but this is just a feeling and based on no information whatsoever.
Tonight I'll be firing up my British lineup of tier 2/3's and working on getting another 10 wins with high scores to see if I can get the quad-cannon Mustang. I don't particularly care about the German LA-5 because for a BR of 4.0 there are much better German planes which kill more efficiently, such as my glorious HS-129. If I've any grind left in me, I might try and get the Russian P63, even though I lack skills with the 37mm cannon planes.
What I have found out is that the way the tiering system counts is that it only cares about whatever plane you finish the match in - so you can keep you overall BR down and only take a couple of Tier 3 planes, just make sure near the end of the battle you bin whatever tier 2
plane you're in and grab a tier 3.
USA makes this easy(ish) because it has P47's in tier 3, yet only BR 3.0 and they pack friendship rockets.

(I may have upset a lot of
pilots lately)
Right, so now I've thoroughly confused everyone.... good luck if you want to attempt to get any premium planes! If you want to improve your chances of a battle win, play a bit tactically. If you're in a domination match and your team appears too stupid to cap airfields, or seem to be flying too many bombers - cut your losses and quit out.
In ground strike, if you're up against a team of 12 enemy bombers, you might be better quitting. Remember that there can be a time where your crew is unavailable, before you can take that nation out again. I've found sticking to the same nation works best, as you don't switch from turn fighting to BnZ and back again continually, and you get used to weapon velocities etc.
And yes, I flew USA because I wanted to obtain a premium plane that costs
6900 Golden Eagles (!) ordinarily, or in real money, about £23 - just so that it'd feel like for once I'm trolling Gaijin, rather than the other way round!
