****** Official World of Tanks OcUK Clan ******

A few questions for you then Shaggy:

1) Are you an arty player? I like every aspect of the game equally.

2) Do you have any Tier 10s? Especially heavies? I have 48 tanks currently, from 4 upward including around 10 Tier 10 tanks and all the top Tier 8 Arty's.

3) So you really don't mind games with lots of arty, pre-cap limit there could be 8 or 9 per side? I agree that is too many and the level should be capped. I dont think they are OP though.

Here's my view on arty....

Having played quite a bit of arty, there is definately an element of luck involved. Many times I've focused the reticule on an enemy tank sat out in the open only to find the shell sails over their tank and impacts a distance behind. You can get entire games like this and I often just lean back in my chair in despair - whether this is coded into the game in an attempt to even people out to 50% "omg conspiracy!" or not I don't know.

Other games you can hit a moving target with an open reticule and you think "wtf, I wasn't even zoomed in properly". However, there is skill involved in predicting players movements and rememberiing where you last saw them, zooming ahead and getting the kill, albeit tinged with luck again.

I love playng arty, the T92 is so damn powerful - hit a group of 2 or 3 tanks sat together and you can easily rack up 2k damage with 1 shot. When I'm on the receiving end of a constant barrage of arty shells, it's ********* annoying to say the least. I mean you head out from your base, you've not even reached the first arty cover and already you've been hit by 5 arty shells from their base and now are 1 shot for any tank with half decent pen and damage. Where is the fun in that? So, its all swings and roundabouts for me as a WoT player or both high tier tanks and SPGs.

I agree SPGS should be limited to a max of 3 per team as 5 is still pretty stupid. Get 5 per side and the game turns into a campfest (even more so than usual).

@Thekwango - While it's not complicated in terms of keyboard buttons to play the game, to play it well you need to have intelligence. Unfortunately, 95% of the player base do not have this attribute and spend their time slobbering over their keyboard grunting "ug ug, must kill big tanky, ug".

I can only put it down to a combination of not having yet fully developed apposable thumbs and the large neanderthal forehead casting a shadow on their keyboards. If you ever see someone on your team say "siemma" or "poz" at the start of the round - you may as well kiss any chance of a win goodbye as they head out into the wilderness, knuckles dragging on the greasy tank floor - if they avoid falling in the nearest lake they will certainly die quickly to shell fire and then scream at everyone for not supporting them.

p.s. If you've not already gathered from my comments, the game is good the problem is with the player base. It seems all the numpties always get put on my team, no matter how many you kills or how much damage you do - having 14 absolute spanners on your team means a loss. Whether that be because they don't speak english, they bought their account off ebay to play high tiers or simply are so dense if brains were dynamite they wouldn't have enough to blow their baseball caps off, I simply don't know. The game is so frustrating sometimes but yet so addictive. My advice is, get a tier 6 arty or tier 8 heavy (the IS3) as fast as you can and then join a TC (or platoon) for some giggles as the grind can be daunting prospect without bouts of "fun" games!

pps. They should bring out a UK only server, at least then I'd be able to communicate with the idiots on my team. :P

Do you guys play Tier 10 in randoms regularly?

Clan Wars in my clan seems to have dried up so it means I haven't played any tier 10's in weeks.

I took out my batchat about 2 weeks ago for a spin and got Ace Tanker but since then I haven't played them, oh I accidently took my Is4 out when I meant to select my IS6. :D

I think when I have got my T57, M48 and T62A its me done with grinding. I may then just simply play tier 10, after playing my premium tanks exclusively for a month I should have 20-30m credits.

This would be enough to never worry about making a loss on tier 10 in randoms? I have converted a lot of gold in the past to get my IS7, maus e100 for clan wars yet I have hardly played them. I completely skipped the lorraine as it was rubbish, that cost me like £35 and I have only played the batchat 57 times since I got it, thats criminal really.

I am on a quest to get my 3 last tanks and then crsdit grind, so by April I should be grind free and playing my tier 10 meds and Is7/4 for fun!

I was grinding the british medium line but the tier 10 is a paper tank on the test server and it doesn't seem to excel at anything. Where as my batchat and E50M and the M48 all seem to have distinct play styles.

do any of you do regular elite company battles?

I don't agree with Evilsod's luck arguement, there is an element of luck but that is the same with all classes in this game, but having a massive splash does not particularly require any skill either.

Oh I'm not saying theres no luck at all in the game except on arty but the ranges you fire at (coupled with the reload time) make arty shots much more luck dependant than say, sniping with a Jagdtiger over half the distance.

Come now Defrag, some of the players are so pants-on-head retarded that even if they did speak english, they probably wouldn't understand what you said.

Nah we do champion and medium regularly but we don't get enough on at the same time who have T10/T8arty and at the times we company it takes to long to get an absolute game.

I hardly play my T10/T8 arty atm because most of the games are invariably crap. Tier spread is too flat and there is too much arty. Still it quite often get into those games in the T71 but its not to bad in that

I'm becoming more tolerant of arty nowadays. Whenever I get shot by one I just remind myself that they're more then likely a socially inept retard who sits in a darkened room constantly fapping to pictures of Dawn French while occasionally prodding his mouse button to fire shells. Members of OCUK clan exempt of course!

I've found that playing Tier7 is great fun nowadays, rarely more then one arty in each game....I suspect they'll 'fix' this soon though.

If you want to conclude the conversation on arty I think we can all agree with Evilsod's second para above no matter what you think of the actual tanks as soon as you see a greeting like S***** you may as well drive into a lake.

I was going to say the sooner we have a UK WOT instead of just EU the better as there may be less spanners but is that really the case ?

Not really, we'd still have noobs like abby, artful, puppet, plat, skdav etc etc....and that's just in this clan!

For what its worth, when playing arty i often see the enemy tanks just sitting still when spotted. If you sit in one place constantly, its so damn easy to hit as arty. When you move a lot, even a bit it is a pain, often causing you to miss. I would hazard a guess that most of the people who whine about arty are just sitting there camping. Remember that before you rage :)

I know what none of the above means!! Lol. How the heck do you join a game. Been sat for 15 mins in the lobby of a training battle staring at the screen!
