have now started playing the war thunder beta and am loving it, maybe will come back to tanks eventually but not feeling the draw to play it again yet :(

I quit tanks a while ago I received my war thunder invite last week what is it like compared to world of war planes? can you use mouse and keyboard?

Proof that you don't need big tanks to take part in Clan Wars:-


We didn't quite have enough players for a third full team so a bunch of players piled into AMXs, T-50-2s etc and just headed for their cap - turned out it worked quite well!!

Actually its not that uncommon. I've been involved in a couple of standard battles where a fast attack with 3 or 4 tanks has ended up in capture.

Did it on Ensk last night going up right hand side. There heavies went on left through town. Met our heavies and whilst they were slugging each other 2 t4 and 2 t5 took the cap and mopped up the stragglers.

Also done it 3 times on Malinovka 3 or 4 fast tanks storm forward and the rest follow. First wave causes confusion and second wave mops them up.

Need good co-op of your team first though.
 
Well that was probably the best start I could have hoped for. Fired up the game, got my 3 day premium, first round in T-34-85:

Bolters Medal, Top Gun and Sniper and an insane amount of exp. I had some sort of god mode on that round. KV-1S managed to miss me at close range and several other tanks, including an enemy T-34-85 bounced off me and hit my track for zero several times.

what gun u using, i just bought it as well, but stuck with the 122mm U-11

The 85mm D5T-85BM T7 gun. Its penetration is a little low but its still quite a powerhouse if you aren't trying to take enemies on frontally and with its acceleration you can peek-a-boo tanks from a flanking position quite well. Currently at a 75% win rate in it after 56 battles.
 
My B1 had its own guardian angel this morning it seems. I needed 7k exp to research the BDR, I somehow managed to get 8k exp and Ace Tanker in it thanks to some protection from above (an SU-26 that got 7 kills) that kept killing things that came near me. Considering I got 4 kills too it was a pretty epic round.

And oh man the stock BDR is slow.

Followed by an Ace Tanker in the T-50. Top Gun and Sniper for 9000 exp. Hilarious T6 round.

Then an Ace Tanker in KV-2 with 10000xp, Steel Wall, Top Gun and Bolters Medal. Maybe the game is making up for yesterdays endless teams of idiots?

what was with this weekend some real eejits about.

There was the fast tanks eg T50's storming forward going too near enemy getting killed then blaming arty for no protection. Then carping on for the whole battle. I ended up with 7 kills at the end of one. I think a few other people were getting narked because there were a few comments right at the beginning of battles from people saying "T50 now dont get yourself killed"

Then there were the others moaning about leaving the base undefended never mind we were sat in the cap zone with 80% v 0% on the clock.

Finally there were the players who decide to go up left and right yet leave the middle wide open.

I dont think some players "read" the battlefield sometimes.

Or am I being too serious ? ;)
 
Biggest weekend special for a while, no surprises the nabs are about. Doesn't finish till tomorrow though so probably the same tonight.

Should get the Hellcat tonight whilst its on half price, then I have a long list of tanks I have unlocked but can't afford - E75, T44, IS3, KV4, GwPanther...

Nope you've hit the nail on the head. 95% of the player base are utter idiots. They don't respond to help signals, or map pings - they simply drive their little tank either into a safe place behind spawn and wait the entire game or charge to their death within the first minute of the game. It's either because they simply don't care, are mentally challenged, are kids playing on their dads accounts, don't speak english or any combination or all of the above.

Even after playing 10k+ battles it never ceases to amaze me the relative stupidity this game seems to bring out in people. I rage too much in this game sometimes its true, I don't deny it. I just don't comprehend how these people get to high tiers and just don't get the basics.

In fact, quite often part of our opening plan for any map when doing platoons is "lets see where the idiots all go before we head out" because more often that not we have to fill gaps in the defense because all the heavies are heading to the hill in Himmelsdorf on a standard battle!!!!

I've lost count of the number of games I've lost because I've moved to cover a weak flank as the top tier idiots are all over the other side of the map, come up against the top 3 or 4 enemy tanks making their own push down one side - held them off for a respectable amount of time only to look at the scores and see my team are down to the last few tanks because somehow the other flank has been flattened by 3 or 4 medium tier tanks - I mean WTF!! All the enemies strong stuff is over here ffs - all you have to do is crush them with a good push and we'd win easily while this side is just about holding its own.

I probably should stop trying to cover the gaps and just go with the lemmings - perhaps it will be less stressful.

Funny thing is, if you try to cover a flank that is being ignored by your team you get called a "camper noob" for sitting back and defending - I mean you can hardly push when 3 or more tier 10 tanks are engaging you.

Sometimes I give up and troll, at least I get a bit of fun in some of the responses. I love it when a <1000 efficiency player starts up whining about everyone else is a noob. You can look at the stats at the start and see the Lowe with 600 efficiency is prime candidate for the "noob" comments later in the game when he goes up in a ball of flames to a T-50-2! :)

yep been called this too even when defending a passage way bit away from the base on an attack battle, the sandy one with the hills, cant remember the name.

Yes I was called a camper when I was on the defending team!

Most of time I just let the number of kills at the end do the talking I have. Usually only one left too.
 
I get annoyed with all the plebbs that play this game as well to ber honest. Some are also WAY too protective of damaging their tanks even when they are full health and taking a hit or two can win them the position.
 
Hmm so after my break I'm finding that I really have no desire to play the game even with the awesome weekend offers right now.
