** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

So... The temptation to go back to WoW is pulling at me. I understand their is some kind of mass exodus away from the game? It can't be that bad surely? Is it that GW2 is coming? Or is WoW just broken now?

Oh well I think from next month I shall return, thinking of starting again from scratch. I bought Cata, then effectively went on summer holiday for a month or so and just never resubbed.

Simple answer is Diablo 3 but i cant see that lasting the constant grinding of 5 acts is starting to grow old for me already, also just pre expansion people stop playing its a case of why would they grind gear they will change in a quest or 2 in a xpac. The advantage of this for new starters is a lot of top guilds will recruit for these exact reasons so if your looking to raid the begining or end of a xpac is always the best time to get in a top guild due to attendance issues.

I did not play a massive amount only enough to get 2 chars to lvl 80 and a multitude of others scattered over differnt realms, so about a years worth of play.

I tried raiding, though never got the massive thrill of it. Reading pages and pages of exactly how to run the raid in the exact method.

When I 1st tried a random battleground with my 1st level 10 or so character it scarred me somewhat, I spent the intire time dead and camped into the grave yard. So I did not play that side of the game at all. On my second lvl 80 I joined a Wintergrasp and realised I'd been missing a lot. So I just effectively started running almost only battlegrounds.

I think when I start again I will find a nice balance. I was thinking a new tauren warrior on some random server and playing just for fun. I like getting the achievements and doing the quests. Often a problem I've found when joining a guild, which I know I'll do sooner then I should is that they kind of push you to lvl faster to get to end game, so that I end up sitting around with not much to do. Or going around massively over kill running quests in very low lvl zones to get achi.

I ended up going with AffinityUI (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info18667-AffinityUI.html) and it's awesome, has all CD's in power aura's around the raid frame telling me when they're usable/on cd and stuff. Would recommend to any healer

Also, just hit 525 enchanting and jc at level 75, ez. time to farm some jc tokens and rack in some money

Not a fan of TukUI and edits personally.

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info20496-KaytemossUI.html nice if your a paladin :)

Join a social guild, roll an OP class. Have fun :D

1st char to 80 was a ret pala, in WoLK. I was making progress with a frost mage, but hit 60 odd and lost interest. Got an ele shammy to 80, that was a blast.

Strangely I just could not get into a war as that did not flow with me. But after playing for a while and getting some progress with the other chars the war just made sense and I enjoyed that.

I kept trying druid, and I really really want to make druid work, though I don't seem to get far with them, perhaps I'll give them a bash again.

A lock, that was also did not sit to well and the hunter was not quite my style. I've tried them all, I guess that is why I only had the 2 at 80 after a full year, with a couple in outlands.

I was thinking a nice tuaren war to get things going. I keep promising my self to play alli, though I start one of those then pack it in and go back horde.

Social guild could work. And FoTM classes often get slaughtered in the next patch, so not sure what is/will/might be the OP class to be. Or even what sever to go for for a clean start. A nice 50/50 balance one, if they exist.

If you've not re-newed your sub you can get a scroll which would get you cata + 7 days free game time along with a free level 80 char off your choice or a free char migration + faction change to the scroll senders realm.

You can get the free 80 and the faction + realm change

Thank you Chris and Apok :D

I saw that thing but did not pay much attention as I did not really know many rl friends who played the game. So did not think about it at all. I think soon as I know what I am doing (beginning of next month) I'll certainly be looking into one of those.

Just looking over the FAQ, on the surface of it it looks like you could get an 80 and a transfer, though I am sure there is somethign in there that prob says pick one.

If it was a pick one, I really would not be sure which to choose. I think I'll prob go for the 80. But then what class/faction/race. Do I go for the instant 80 warrior or use that to explore the game and go for somethign like a mage for easy gold or a druid for the giggles so much choice haha.

And if its both, pala or shammy?

What are your realms like? Horde/ally balance, AH quality? Kinda easy to forget the depth of the whole thing until you skim a forum or blog or 2. Oh and mods and add-ons and all that stuff?

My gaming was rather mod light I think. Might have had like 3 or 4 mods on there. Perhaps I can go dig up some old book marks on my laptop when I get home to see what I may have bookmarked on the web browser. Not used the laptop in a while. I might even still have wow installed on there.

Though biggest consideration, if I aquire a scroll of res, what do I do with it?

edit: just noticed that there is a promotional time limit currently. Anyone know when that runs out? Should prob get that sorted before it runs out

Myself: I'm on Kazzak Horde, Very populated realm but the balance ratio is unbalanced I think it's like 1 horde to 0.17 alliance. World PvP has been dead for a long time tho.

I would make a level 80 class off one in which you will want to play and you can level alts as you progress through the time as you will get Bind on Account gear, which makes leveling alts a lot easier.

With a scroll you just accept it then go into your account management and choose which you want, myself I made a 80 mage but then regretted it so contact blizzard as you can only do one and I choose to migrate my Hunter to my current realm saving myself £15 and getting a free upgrade on my account (cataclysm).

There is a few people on OK that are from Kazzak just ask about :D

Not played on a PvP realm before. Should be a bit of a change, even though there are very little alliance on there, I can see why world pvp is dead.

I could either boost my existing lvl 38 war and xfer it there, or just start with a fresh lvl 1 and boost it on the spot.

Does the high sever load not cause issues/lag?

Not really, you would rather be on a populated server then a dead realm I can assure as I have my other few toons on a dead realm it's no fun since people are doing nothing and err It's upto yourself You would be better just making a level 1 and boosting it up :)

Read the FAQ seems like the character that gets the transfer is the character that you boost. Or you can transfer an already lvl 80 with out getting the boost.

Now to decide what character I want to 80 and to obtain a scroll of res. So many character choices.
